My Antec 1200 v3 case gets filled with dust, even if i go on a 3 day vacation.

I don't want to be cleaning this thing out every two days, I've gotten so frusturated and lazy with it, I just take a duster can and spray the dust on the inside, hoping it will come out somehow

Any mid-full towers out there that don't get too much dust and are easy to clean?

My temps are alright too, but there's dust EVERYWHERE

No clue, it's on carpet in my bedroom.

I guess what I was getting at is whether or not your PC is telling you something about how clean your house is. Mabye running the vacuum a little more often in that particular room might help mitigate the problem?

Not being critical at all -- I have the same issues with dust here, and it seems like every couple of weeks I've got to pull the dust filters out of my case and rinse them out, and then clear the bunnies out of all of the fans. I've just more or less accepted it as being the nature of the beast.

I thought the newer V3 Antecs had dust filters... apparently they don't do a very good job! lol

My question is, how much dust are we talking about? And, was the machine running during the vacation, if not I'm having a hard time understanding how dust built up inside. If so, why?

Second, yea, that case is full of holes, and even though the front fans are filtered, I see 3 front 120s for intake, but 2 120s, a 200, and a PSU all exhausting. Sounds like a recipe for sucking in dust. As a test you might try covering up the rear holes, and one of the rear 120s (unplugged) see what happens with temps and dust.

As for less dusty case, I don't know. In some sense to move that much air for cooling, you have to deal with a certain volume of dust. To filter it out requires restriction, which either drops the cooling, or increases noise.

The best cases I've found for less dust are ones with positive pressure (more fans blowing in that blowing out) and filters on the intakes (you can even mod on some furnace filters if you really want to cut down the dust although that would reduce airflow).

My current case is the Sliverstone FT02 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1GYKG467PVKAPDDC3MKT) which does a pretty decent job of keeping the dust out and a great job of cooling. Only thing is it's pretty pricey.

I prefer this case

It has air filters that prevent dust accumulation. If you are feeling extremely ambitious then there is always this case.

My 2 cents.

Doc

Although these are definitely nice cases, I would say that the dust accumulation is slow but still noticeable in the P180/P190 style cases due to only having one real intake fan versus 2 exhaust + PSU + video card blowing out. This causes air and and dust to get sucked in through cracks and holes in the case that doesn't get filtered. Heck, the back of the case and the PCI slot covers are even perforated to facilitate this.

edit: It seems they fixed this in the 183/193 series as they have two intake fans versus my P180's 1. Nix this first negative with these cases.

One additional gotcha with this case is the fact that the tunnel design for the PSU and lower HD cages makes assembly a real bear, as 1)you have to pull all the power leads through the holes in the wall and 2) it's harder to plug in front panel connectors/USB/etc into the motherboard as these tend to be placed right up next to this same wall and and are very difficult to reach with fat fingers if you have PCI cards plugged in the lower slots. The upper HD cage also gets hard to work with if you have a long video card, so I ended up just removing this and using the lower cage.

I'd prefer the Antec P280 if going for the Antec P series, as you can fit two intake fans, and it does not have that infernal PSU tunnel. I wish they would provide an OEM part to block off the upper exhaust so I wouldn't have place a book on top of it to reduce noise.
