Need opinion on a couple of LCD monitors...

Okay, here is the situation. My employer is finally going to buy me a 20.1" LCD monitor for work. I'm a programmer/web developer so I would like to get at LCD that has good text clarity and color reproduction. Work has provided me a list of monitors that I'm allowed to order through the procurement department. This list includes the Dell 2007FP and 2007WFP, ViewSonic VP2030B and VX2025, and Samsung 204B. I think I would prefer the 4:3 models (2007FP, VP2030B, and 204B) over the widescreen models (2007WFP and VX2025) as I like the greater screen height so I can see more lines of code on the screen. From the reviews I read the 2007FP and VP2030B seem to be decent monitors. The 2007FP is reported to have some banding issues and I hear you never know what panel Dell is going to stick in the thing (S-IPS vs. PVA). Should I go for the Dell 2007FP or the Viewsonic VP2030b? Thanks...

I wish my employer let me choose a 20-inch LCD. We have just learned that our crappy no-name curved 17-inch CRT's will have to make it until next April at least. After that, we might get a 19 inch E-series LCD from Dell

My first revision Dell 2007FPs were a bit blurry, but my two A02 revisions are very good for text and I have not noticed the banding issue nearly as much as the first revisions.

I'm not sure what kind of panels they are shipping out now, but I'm very pleased with the deal I got on my versions.

The Viewsonic MVA panel will probably have the better response time, but the Dell 2007FP PVA panel will probably look better. The pixel size is pretty small on both panels, but if you have good eyes then its fine.

I couldn't handle the small pixel size, so I had my work buy a 21" Samsung 4:3 panel instead. Very nice LCD for what I do, programming and scientific work.

I have a Dell 2001FP at home and have not had any problems in regards to pixel size. What specific problem were you having? Was the text too small?

i like my viewsonic, but the "shiny" coating and dead DVI input sucks. otherwise, great monitor.

thank you my friend, but ive already tried this option and i cant get the DVI Recovery program to work. Booting from a CD give me an error message of sorts and the floppy disk wont finish when i try to make it. I think i just have to RMA the stupid LCD. Unless you can think of something else.

Well I decided to play the Dell panel lottery with the 2007FP. Hopefully I'll get the S-IPS panel. I'll post back when it comes in.... Thanks...
