We're getting a new HP ProLiant ML110 G5 server for our engineering department. This server will be used by a small 8 person workgroup which are currently running Autodesk Inventor software. The server will mainly just serve engineering files and run Autodesk Data Management Server. There are actually more users that will eventually connect to it, but only 8 will be hammering it.
The server specs are: dual core Intel Xeon 2.33GHz/1333MHz bus and 3GB of ECC ram. For storage, I decided to go with 4 500GB SATA drives in RAID10. 1TB of storage is more than enough for now (they're using about 250GB now). I decided on RAID10 since Inventor filesets can get quite large, and they need sustained transfer speeds and performance (and of course, redundancy is a must)
So, the problem is the RAID chip in the ML110 does not support RAID10, only 0 and 1.
I'm looking for a decent controller for it, and can't really decide which. Adaptec 2405, HP Smart Array E200 or something from Areca (a bit more expensive).
So, what would you recommend?
