Need sad classical music...

I'm trying to get some good sad music for my upcoming project and classical music fits the part perfectly yet I only know a few, obvious songs that I think are sad such as the Moonlight Sonata. Any help is appreciated.

The best anime of all time, Neon Genesis Evangelion played that music during a very dramatic scene.. it was very nicely executed..

Now everytime I hear Air, I think of Asuka kicking ass and dying...

Piano. Yes, I should have said that. Anything dramatic will work though.

Chopin prelude opus 28 no 4...my all time favorite piece of music...insanely haunting. It was the piece that chopin requested be played at his own funeral in fact.

Well so far nothing has struck my fancy. When I say 'sad' I mean Moonlight Sonata sad and gentle I guess. I'm being too picky. Beethoven's stuff works well though. Chopin's Nocturne in E minor may work and Bach's Aria da Copa but that's it. Hmm.

Did you find a good recording of Chopin prelude opus 28 no 4 yet? It's short, but has similar traits with moonlight (they were the first two pieces I taught myself in fact). Many pianists play it too hard or fast...it's not meant that way. There's another good etude, though not quite the same...more hopeless than sad, but still beautiful. It's prelude opus 28 no 20. Again, you have to find a good version as many artists butcher it mercilessly.
