I am thinking to OC my 3800, my case only takes low profile coolers, will something passively cooled such as xp90 work and also what speed I should try for, I haven't done this since 333mhz cellies
The XP-90 (and XP-120) are supposed to be equipped with a fan.. You can use them as passive coolers, but don't expect to gain any stability whatsoever when overclocking.
I just bought an Opteron 165 for my low profile (Antec Aria) case and used the Zalman 7000 AlCu cooler. Set the adjustable fan speed to lowest and it's silent for me. Note that the Aria may not look low profile from the outside (it's a SFF case) but because of the overhang of the PS you need low profiles HSFs.
