Need software to record internet radio

My favorite radio show (Paul and Young Ron on Big 105.9 in Miami) comes on from 6-10 a.m. when I am usually still sleeping. I'd like to be able to record it into mp3 format so I can listen to it when I wake up. Does anyone know of good software that will allow me to do this? Thanks!

I don't know of one program that will do that, but if you have one that will play Internet radio then you can use a cron daemon to start and stop any sound recorder at the right time.

If you want the best, it is Total Recorder Pro which costs $36. There are some freeware out there that attempts this, but they do not work nearly as well and most often not at all. Total Recorder Pro will handle everything as long as your computer is on. It loads itself everytime you boot and has its own scheduler as well as a replacement sound driver that is required. All you have to do is set a program and you are done. What makes Pro better than Standard is that Pro will automatically launch the proper media plaer. Otherwise, you would either have to get up and start the stream manually or launch it the previous night and hope the connection does not die hours later. With Pro, just use this URL:

There is another program called Replay Radio that is similar. What I did not like about Replay Radio was the way they converted the audio to mp3's. In Replay Radio, the program would first save the file uncompressed which means that you need a few gigs of empty hard drive space. On the other hand, Total Recorder compressed on-the-fly which meant no huge temporary files that had to be converted after the recording session ended.

I saw something about this the other day on another forum, its called Tunebite. These guys are using it to get around Napster's newfangled encryption. Read about it here. Apparently it records audio directly from your soundcard (in analog) and makes a digital file. Don't know if it has a timer. Check out that thread.

I should mention that you have to listen to the program while you're recording it.

Thanks, I installed this and have it scheduled to record my show in the morning. Unfortunately, it requires that you install RealPlayer.
