I don't post much at all on these forums, but I figured I'd ask for some help, never hurts to try I guess.
I recently purchased an Asus Maximus Formula and Intel Q6600 (G0) to upgrade from my 'old' EVGA 680i SLI and Intel E6600 (which will be going in a relative's PC after I'm done with the install).
I'm not very experienced in matters of BIOS settings, overclocking, and the like. This is my second build. I know the basics of it, and I had great success with the previous mobo/cpu combo, running for over a year completely stable with no hardware-related failures of any kind. I do not, however, know every nook and cranny of a mainboard BIOS. There are several settings whose functions elude me. Is there someone willing to do a small writeup of the most important BIOS functions for this board? (My full setup is listed below). Obviously, frequency and voltage are specific to each user and depend on how far you want to overclock, but obviously there are some settings which should be done a certain way no matter what range of overclocking is done. I'd also be interested in knowing what BIOS revisions have been the most successful/stable.
Also, a blurb about what speeds/voltages are most successful (so I can get a ballpark range of what to shoot for) would be very helpful, along with any general knowledge you'd like to give, as I'm sure I could use it! Basically, any type of guide you can give, would be great. If one already exists for this board, please point me in that direction hehe. I have done a good amount of searching. There hasn't been much talk about it on this particular forum. I've read the article on Anandtech, and parts of the massive thread at xtremesystems.org, but I'm still missing many of the pieces. I just don't want anyone to think I'm lazy and looking for the quick and easy answer.
Anyway, thank you for any help you might give, it's much appreciated.
