Need some experienced/successful investors' help please

Hey out there,

I'm interested in purchasing a book on how to invest, more specifically aimed at a younger person like myself, 22 yrs old that started to invest money into mutual funds starting at age 18. I'd like to find a book that isn't extremely thick, has those 'terms' that nobody knows what they're talking about, etc. Something simple, basic, and focuses more on the IDEA and thoughts behind investing for the long term. If it helps at all, as I've said I'm 22 yrs old, have about 6 mutual funds at the moment and will be obtaining quite a large amount of money in the next few years. I'm an extremely fortunate person who happens to have wealthy relatives...if you get my drift. I realize that I'm already far ahead of the game in terms of investing early, but I've been interested in the stock market/investing for quite some time now. I'd like to stress that I'm not looking for what stocks or types of stocks to buy. Any books, brief descriptions would be great! Thanks so much for the help guys!

I can't recommend any particular book for you but a trip to the Library might help. You can browse thru their selection and see if something suits your needs then purchase it at a bookstore.

buy low, sell high.

Buy at the end of a bear market, sell in the mid to end of a bull market.


Repeat. If you want to be able to know when and how, watch data and market indicators. That's as non-technical as it gets. And of course, diversify, know your risk tolerance, bla bla bla.

Oh and use dollar cost averaging to invest systematically over time without timing the market.

At his last stockholders meeting, Warren Buffett reccomended two books to his stockholders:


Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits by Philip A. Fisher
The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham

I can't speak to the quality of these books but I am thinking of buying or borrowing theme just based on his reccomendation.
