Hey everyone,

The issue I am having is a little beyond my scope. My pc boots just fine and I can log in and do some work but after 5-15 minutes it slows down to a crawl. Everything slows down. I ran Ccleaner, malwarebytes as well as updated all drivers which took forever moving at a snails pace. Last night I noticed the display on my motherboard went to 99 (which I believe is debug mode) when the computer started to slow and after a couple of minutes displayed 00 (internet says it's actually D0). My system build is in my sig. The only major thing that changed was the Windows 10 update. With my little bit of research of the D0 code it seems that everyone either had a boot loop or did not boot at all and the motherboards seemed to have been bad so I am at a loss. Like I said it is beyond my knowledge base so hoping one of you fine folks to point me in a direction. Thanks!

i5 4670k - MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - 8gb PNY XLR8 - 120Gb Kingston SSD V200+ boot drive - 1TB WD Black Storage Drive - SLI PNY XLR8 GTX660s - Corsair HX1050 PSU - Corsair H55 for the CPU - All in a Corsair Air 540

I am guessing that is what you are looking for.

I am at work right now so I cannot screenshot it for you. However that was one of the first things I looked at. CPU was at low 20% usage and Memory was at 34% usage. Neither of them spiked up at all.

Also all processes seemed normal, nothing out of the ordinary running in the background that I could see.

Sometimes the Window updates screw up the installation. After one update, I had to delete the Windows.old folder because it was causing my disk to run at 100%.

Open your task manager, then performance, and finally open resource monitor and take a look. If nothing looks out of whack there, you can always reset your PC and see if that helps. If not, it could be a hardware issue. However, you want to take the chance of it being an OS upgrade bug out of the equation before you start troubleshooting your hardware.

I will check the disk usage out and report back after work. I don't even think I looked at that before. And yes I would like it not to be a hardware issue since I am wanting to upgrade my GPU and that would throw a serious wrench in those plans. Thanks!

Hey guys. So I monitored my SSD and HDD usage last night. Here is how things went down. I fired up the computer logged in and immediately opened task manager to monitor. While the computer was running normally my SSD usage at most hit 30%. All of the sudden it jumped up to 100% and shortly after (a minute or two) my mobo led bios code displayed 99 where when running normally it jumped around from like 47-59. Still monitoring I then noticed the SSD usage drop and fluctuate from 30%~70% with some quick spikes to 100%. At this point the mobo led bios code started to display 00. I did try to do some more diagnosing on my own as I found a Microsoft fix (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...00-disk-utilization-on-windows-10-devices-wit) but it doesn't look like that particular issue pertains to me. I appreciate the help I have already got from you guys but still need some more. Thanks!

That's interesting, I had the same thing happen on a particular rig, with two different SSDs / Win10 installations. Seemed like a Ghost in the machine, but mine never subsided.

Maybe Microsoft decided to remote-image the entire SSD?

Well fired up the turd tonight to dig into a bit more. Windows did an update and it worked well for longer than normal. Stupid me thought the update fixed itself. Nope! Codes changed as normal. Thing slowed down like normal. Started doing more digging as guided here and the darn thing shut down on me. I powered it back on fully expecting it not to post or anythuan and it did load up. I logged in and less than a minute later it shutdown again. Haven't tried to start it again. About to throw it out the window or shoot it.

So I feel dumb. Pretty sure my CPU cooler went to shit. Downloaded core temp and it was showing 100 degrees C. First cooler I have ever had fail. Guess I overlooked the simple things. Fml.

What temps are you showing on your CPU cores when the slowdowns start?

Edit: just saw your last post. Thank goodness for throttling.

I was going to mention (must have gotten distracted, sorry), that the POST code reader (two-digit readout), most likely switches to a CPU temp readout, after boot. So it's not displaying error codes, but temps. 99C and 00 (100C), would be a Bad Thing. I guess you figured that out, though. (I wonder if that was my problem? I might have to dig out that rig and re-test.)

For sure. I am hoping no serious damage has been done. Going to throw the factory cooler on today (lets hope I can find it) and check everything out.

I would for sure. Stupid thing was my wife mentioned it sounded funny and I kind of brushed it off as my storage HDD making more noise. Guess it was the pump in my Corsair H55 going to hell.
