I ordered a couple things from a website at the beginning of the month. It is now well passed 3 weeks later and I have no idea if this place even exists let alone if my stuff is coming. I made sure to use my CC and not my debit card.

I contacted my CC company and they said they will look into it. There are a few things I am worried about though:
1. I never got an order number of any kind for them to refer back to
2. I have now learned that this website is in a different country, will that cause any hassle?
3. What if my CC company cant get ahold of these asshats either?

I have never had to dispute a claim before, so I am full of questions. Any advice is appreciated.

write to your credit card company and send it via certified mail or some other signature proof method. order number shouldn't matter, they know what the amount in question is. if you CC company can't even contact them I'm sure you will get the money back no questions asked.

I'm not entirely sure on your 3 questions but I went through a dispute once where the credit card company could not get the merchant to refund the money. The credit card company sucked it up and refunded me the money at their lost. So hopefully you have a good enough credit card that would eat the cost if nothing pans out. Which card did you use?

Hm. I never had good experience with Capital One. The one that I used and they happily refunded me the money was MBNA.

Write certfied letter disputing the charge. This is the only way to protect your rights. Calling them over the phone will not protect your rights should it come down to a court of law.

its only $70, so its nothing I would go to court over. I am just pissed because the website I ordered from was a knockoff of a website with a good history. I did my research then ordered from the wrong site

I don't know why you have to send it certified. Mail usually gets to its destination.

modchips.com

I meant to order from mod-chips.com. The two websites are almost identical. Avoid this place at all costs.

Look, if it didn't make it you will just send another. Some people just love to waste their money.

If you ordered from a knockoff site like that, I'd consider having the credit card acct number changed. It doesn't sound like they ever intended to sell anything at all.

+1, that's pretty shady.

Consider getting an Amex card, their customer service is outstanding. I only had to dispute one charge with them, but all it took was a phone call. They investigated, took the charge off my balance in the meantime, and eventually got me a refund.

Non certified mail will not hold up in court. The reciever, even if they did recieve it can say it never got to them and the burden of proof would be on the sender to prove that he sent it and that the reciever received it. Certified mail takes care of both of that, the sender can prove they sent it and get a certified receipt of when it was recieved and signed by whom. When Yossarian said proof, he meant tangible legal proof.
