I haven't been able to play games on my computer for a long time, it shuts the monitor off. I updated my computer almost a year ago and have had this problem ever since. I changed the video card, memory and CPU. I thought my problem might be in the memory so I replaced my OCZ memory with Crucial memory, that was what was recommend from Intel's web site and got the memory Crucial recommended for my motherboard (Intel D875PBZ). I have a EVGA video card (256-A8-N507-AX) that I just updated to the latest driver and now I can play operation flashpoint for almost ten minutes, before I couldn't reach 5 minutes of game play. The monitor goes black and then it's like it's in sleep mode. I have to reboot my computer manually. I check the event viewer and I get these ploblems..

DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to start the service EventSystem with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{1BE1F766-5536-11D1-B726-00C04FB926AF}

DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to start the service winmgmt with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820}

DCOM got error "The service database is locked. " attempting to start the service netman with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{BA126AE5-2166-11D1-B1D0-00805FC1270E}

The mrtRate service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

I have alwasy recived the "mrtRate service failed" but, the DCOM errors are new. When I updated my video card driver and restarted my computer the DCOM errors were gone untill I tried to play the game and now I get those again.

Do you have an Audigy soundcard from Creative? That's probably the source of your Dcom errors, and possibly your lockups.

Read here:

The mrtrate error is a common one. Sounds like you had a version of "Quicken" on the PC but uninstalled it, right? The registry still has an entry for this file, however. Here's how to get rid of it:

If you've already removed Quicken, then you can remove the orphaned driver
entry in the registry.

Open Regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\mrtRate

Delete that key. Restart Windows

The System portion of the event log has no other information at the time of the monitor powering off? No memory dump files in c:\windows\memory.dmp (file)? No minidumps in c:\windows\minidumps (folder) that correspond with the time of these problems?

So I tried one of those suggestions at the link and I no longer have any of the DCOM errors after reboot. I went into add/remove programs and uninstalled creative mediasource. I played operation flashpoint and it still crashed at the same time in the game. After I hit reset on the tower and windows booted up I checked the event log the DCOM was still gone. From what those people at the link were experiencing I thought that would have fixed my problem, but I still can't play games. This is very frustrating.

As for the other error I get, the one for quicken, I still use that program. If I delete that key will quicken still work?

The only other thing in the event viewer is...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows saved user YOUR-7BF86FFC89\Chris registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.

Does this happen with any other game? You said you can't play "games" but you only mention one particular game. This is important, so please don't generalize if it's not true. If it's just this game, please claify it. If it's others, be specific.

If you want to get rid of the mrtrate error and you still have quicken, uncheck the "automatically update in the background" or some similar phrase.

I should have been more clear that I was just using operation flashpoint to test since I could always count on it to crash at the same time every time. It was crashing Ghost Recon and Rainbow six 3 too. I have been messing around trying to fix so many things on here that I somehow fixed the crashing. I played operation flashpoint for about a half an hour and it ran fine. I'm gonna have to take a break from this computer before my head explodes! Thanks for everyones help, who knows how long it would have taken me to fix this on my own.
