I am working on my Car PC and figured this was the best place right now to ask about audio adapters.

I need to do the following

TWO RCA (Male Ends) Converted to a Single 3.5mm Minijack (Male or Female)
TWO RCA (Female Ends) Converter to a Single 3.5mm Minijack (Prefer same end as above)
Single MALE 3.5mm Minijack to TWO 3.5mm Minijacks (Male or Female)

Then I need one 6'-10' 3.5mm Minijack extension to go from the one end of the 3.5MM Y connector to the male ended RCA Y adapter.

Can anyone point me to some good brands. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I don't want to just use the cheapo crap that walmart and radioshack sell.

Here is a picture breakdown of what im looking for.

Thanks,
Josh

Definitely not a fortune here

How much were you thinking of spending?

I'm not actually very familiar with car audio and the need for sheilding and such in that situation.

No set limit, ill spend what I have to to be sure I get quality stuff, not wasting my money on monster cable and the likes though as I don't think it will make that much of a difference.

I am using the stock speakers right now, but will be upgrading to middle range priced stuff later on.

It would need some shielding I guess but not a lot. Anything that is better quality than the RCA brand stuff that Radioshack and walmart sells makes me happy right now.

The Car Audio section of Parts Express should have what you are looking for. More expensive then monoprice of course but you can get cables which are pretty decent. PartsExpress is an excellent company and probably the online leader in DIY audio solutions.

PartsExpress Cable Section

If you can find them online cheap (check ebay) this is one case I would recommend Monster cables. I say that simply because Monster cables are manufactured with very tight fittings which should completely prevent a cable from slipping off the connector in case of a bumpy ride. Not worth the retail premium they command, but maybe worth an extra $5-$10.

How do you run the wiring for the keyboard + mouse? I would just do my own cabling.

I was thinking of putting a laptop into my car. But not sure where to find that mount that cop uses.

I'm sorry for going OT but, I can't help but point out what Parts Express has on the page for the 3.5mm Stereo Headphone Extension cable

"Add a 15 ft. coiled cord to your stereo mini headphones. Gives the user added mobility when listening to personal cassette players." End Quote.

Even people who can't afford a digital music player have a CD player. Granted, I'm sure that there are people in certain parts of the world that still use cassette players because they can't afford anything else. But I doubt that they would shop online, mainly because they probably don't have a computer.

Could you take some shots to show? I'm curious how you mount everything. I wish I have a nice place in my car for my laptop to sit.

Monoprice.com or CablesForLess.com

There are adapters that convert RCA to mini etc., in addition to cables directly terminated like what you are looking for.

Not name brand, but their cables appear built well and to tight tolerances (connectors seem to snap into place very snugly)

EDIT: given how noisy a car may be for car stereo, might want to look at some quality twisted pair OFC copper interconnects, then just use adapters to convert one end to mini terminations you need. You could also probably go to a car stereo store that does custom installs, and they probably have bulk twisted pair interconnects that they terminate themselves for their own installs. Shouldn't be too expensive, but, you may still need to purchase RCA to mini adapters yourself.
