Ok here's the deal, i don't think my friends and family are honest with me about my music and it bothers me. If anyone's going to tell me i suck, its going to be people that don't know me and don't really care. If you decide to listen, try to be constructive with your criticisim though. i really want to get better.

listen to me here http://www.davidvossel.com/music.htm
all the recordings were done in my basement, so don't expect too much, if anything

thanks,
supersloth

In all honesty, I kind of liked it. Only heard the first song, so far, but I like it. I suggest adding a little more bass.

wrong place for that. even if you end up being the best musician in the world, people on here will tell you it sucks just to be the douchebags they are.

Musically very nice, and well produced for a basement recording.

Not the style of music I normally like, but I liked "For so long" the others where meh

Wow - recording sounds awesome for being in a basement, and I love the fact that you play all of the instruments. I like Megan's Song. Decent songwriting, and you have a good ear for melody. Your singing is good too - but it would sound more polished if were are little more daring with the vocal arrangement - it just sounds like you're wispering too much - add some lower pitch

skippy's carnivel reminds me of weird al's early stuff - not bad 6/10

you need to learn accordian, accordian makes everything better

farewell - this is pretty good, for that type of song, 8/10

live it through - 7/10
for so long - 7/10

yeah, its pretty good , sounds as good as stuff on the alternative radio station , make a Cd, i'll buy one for my kid
the artwork is interesting, i like that cartoon/stick style

can you do heavy metal or speed metal? no? ok
why are you eating the snowman's brains?

Hitting on the aspiring musician with a girlfriend FTW!

I'm not hitting on him - just said that he's a good looking guy, what's wrong with that?

here is what i think...

i believe its mixed very well... you definitly know how to play the instrumetns... vocals are right for the genre, but i feel they need a little more emphasis, kinda sounds like you are just not feeling it i think it needs a little more oomph vocally...

other than that, it sounds good... i am still shocked at how well is mixed, granted i am just listening through my shure iems, its damn good...

i've got the shure e3's, they make me sound a lot better than i am heck they make everyone sound better than they are, great iems. yea i know what you mean about the vocals. thats the main thing i struggle with. i just have a really weak voice, which is probably while i'll never make a career out of my music. i've started some lessons, but i just can't seem to project for some dumb reason. maybe it will click someday. any singers out there have any pointers?

Pretty decent from my perspective, but I don't listen to a ton of music. Nicely mixed though.

It's a typical Proletariat response; if it hasn't been featured on Much Music or MTV at least once, it sucks.

I mean what are you talking about?

To me subject matter is a big thing. You're pretty much whining in every song and talking about nothing.

Liveliness also matters to me. You can have a few slow songs, but when every single song is slow, its monotonous.

Musically your pretty much just strumming the guitar. Why not try some different chords?

Production wise, its good. It works and sounds good. Production is big, but if you have nothing behind your music it pretty much just sounds like really high quality crap.

Oh and I knew LoKe and pontifex would like this. They are pretty much emo-heads who never get outside of their house.

You do know that all music is essentially emotional, right? That's the whole point of music.

I don't listen to Emo. I listen to Rock/Hard Rock/Metal/Death Metal/Whatever else. BUT, I'll listen to anything that sounds good. Personally, I don't like this type of music (except the first song), but at least I can look past my own musical interest and agree that his music has some quality.

You know exactly what I'm saying when I say emo.

And as for looking past my own musical interest?

I listen to everything from Jack Johnson to T.I. like I said. I don't think there is a wider range than that.

It is some good music.

Where did you learn all those instruments? Were you classically trained?
