Need some overclocking help

Here are my current system specs;
DFI Ultra-D
Opty 165
OCZ DDR400
eVGA 790gt


My memory is stable at 235mhz with 2.5-3-3-7-1T timings and my cpu is stable at 2.89ghz (321x9). Ive been running the computer for the last week at 2ghz (230x9) with the ram at 1:1. When ever I try to run the CPU at 2.89ghz and then use a ram divider, I cant boot. I should be able to run the ram using the 133 divider, and the ram should be around 206mhz with that, but it wont boot. It wont boot with the 120 divider either. The only way to get the system to boot with the core at that speed is to set the ram at 100. I dont get it, both the ram and the core run at these OCed speeds on their own, but when I put them together it doesnt work.

ram is running at 2.8 already. But even then, it runs at 235mhz at 2.8v just fine, why would it not be able to run at 206mhz (using a 133 divider)?

i had a similar problem with my 3800+ toledo. i could get it to boot from 200, and 166 just fine but it didnt like the 133 (never tried the 100) giving me a max of 2.8 ghz with ram at 233 2.8v

i downloaded A64Info and it let me change the ram divider within windows and used clockgen to overclock it to 2.9 with mem divider of 140

Some of DFI's BIOS's don't like the 133 Mhz divider. Use the 140 Mhz divider. It will be better anyway, since you want your RAM to run as fast as possible, and with your 9x multiplier, you'll be running your RAM @ 222 Mhz, with the HTT @ 321. Plus, at that speed, your RAM will run 2.5-3-2-5 (or 6) timings, with 2.8v, assuming you have Infineon IC's, which it sounds like you do.

Thanks myocardia, I got the system running now. I wasnt able to get it to boot at 321mhz. My max core speed has been going down. When I first got this chip a couple weeks ago I was able to get 2.92ghz (325x9), then a few days later the highest I could get was 323x9, then 321x9, then 321x9, oh well.

I have it running now at 2.81ghz (312x9) at 1.36v and using the 150 ram divider I have my ram at 234mhz at 2.8v with 2.5-3-2-5-1T. I suppose that is pretty acceptable . I may have to either lap the IHS or remove it completely, because my temps are still getting pretty high. It hit a high of 60c before I shut it down, this was a couple weeks ago when I had it at 2.92. Ive had two instances of Prime95 running for about 20 minutes now and the temps are hovering around 57c.


edit: the temps are getting better. Its hovering around 55-56 now, and occasionally spiking to 57-58 for only about a second. I decided to open rthdribl too to just for the hell of it and stress more stuff
