Hi guys,
I posted a while ago about asking for advice on a build and due to that, was going to research for a bit longer until I made my build - however, my hand is being forced and I must build the new system soon. So I would like to present the following and ask for last minute advice. The order will go in Sunday. My only major concern is my case's ps (NeoHE) - mobo (ASUS A8N) combo. I'm confused if this problem is fixed, and if not, I'm looking for another passive motherboard.

Please keep in mind that I am trying to make this system as quiet as possible, thus the choice of certain hardware.

Let me know if you have any suggestions about what I can do with the mobo/case problem. And anything else you see odd (components, approx prices, etc). Thanks alot!

Case:
Antec P150 $110

MB:
Asus A8n-SLI Premiun $166

CPU:
AMD X2 3800+ $296

Heatsink:
Ninja $40

RAM:
Cruical 2GB DDR 400 CL3 $155

Video:
EVGA 7800GT $250
Zalman VF700-AlCu $30

HD:
3x Samsung SP2504C $300
(250 GB each, SATA II)

Optical:
DVD Burner $40
DVD Drive $30
====================
Total: $1417

Monitor:
Dell 2405 $800

I will also be placeing 1 or 2 Nexus 120 mm fans in there.

I'd stay far away from the Crucial memory after the issues posted the other day with it failing after a while. Try Corsair instead.

Otherwise, the rest looks absolutely great. Which PSU though?

And what mobo/case problem do you mean?

Aren't you missing a fan for that ninja?
or are you planning to rely on P150 fan?

IMO 3 of the quietest Samsung are still louder than 1 regular drive.

The problem I'm refering to is the P150's PS (Antec NeoHE) and the Asus.

I forgot to mention I will be replacing the P150 fan either 1 or 2 Nexus 120mm fans.

1) He's more than likely to rely on the P150 fan.

As for suggestions.

1. Yeah, I'd steer clear of that ram (just my thoughts), and spend a bit more on some better ram, like G.Skill's 2-3-2-5 PC3200 ram 2X1GB.

2. If you're running passive, more than likely your gpu should have it's own heat exhaust, so instead of the zalman, give it a nv silencer 5.

3. Double you tee eff with the monitor?! I wish I could afford one

4. For silencing, only get 1 optical drive, less dust would sweep in (unless you block the holes)

5. On SilentPCReview, apparently people are having trouble with the O rings for HDD suspension. This may or may not be an issue for you, so it would mean you should not move your case around much, for it will most likely break an O-ring. Unless of course, you have you're own solution to the issue.

6. I recommend the P180 over the P150. Prices for P180 are lower than the P150, and HDD suspension really isn't at it's prime yet. Just do what SilentPcReview did, cover the top hole, have the psu pull it's own air and clog the holes near the psu. Also, take out the fan in the PSU area, since it's not required unless you have a lot of HDD's down there.

7. Where's the power supply? If you're using the Antec NeoHE 430w that comes with the P150, steer away. Not worth it... seriously. It has problems. Get a different brand, like Seasonic or something.

1. I'll look into the ram. This ram usually costs around 250 acording to Cruical, its just that I get employee's discount on them.

2. Good idea, I'll look into that - any idea how loud that is?

3. I've been looking at that monitor for a /long/ time.

5. I've heard about the O-rings... i might replace them with my own, or something, but I will not be transporting the case while the drives are suspended. But the reports in SPCR for hard drive suspension are amazing - even if the P150 is slightly flawed, replacement of the bands should be sufficient.

6. I've thought about the P180, but my question is that I've heard alot about the Al panels warping out of shape ~.~

7. Yea, that was the problem I was referring to. I've seen reports that it is being fixed, but I can't tell how far the fixes have propogated.

1. Durr... G.Skill ram is like $176 for 2X1GB .

2. AFAIK, it's better than using the stock heatsink, that's for sure

6. Yeah, apparently P180's are warping out of shape due to the sandwiching of the Aluminum and plastic at different compression rates, but hey, your choice

7. Still wouldn't trust the PSU's from there, buy your own. Don't want to risk it IMO.
