Need some Vita recommendations

I've been playing The Show for the last month during my commute and the game is just frustrating the hell out of me. I already own Hot Shots, Uncharted, Super Startdust and Lumines. Anything other really fun games that are playable during a commute, don't have an over-the-top difficulty and offer some time of either stats or character progression?

Rayman Origins, Unit 13, Mortal Kombat, and Marvel vs Capcom 3 are really good. We have Resistance: Retribution coming out next week; Gravity Rush, Metal Gears Solid HD in 3 weeks. I love Monster Hunter Freedom Unite but it can be extremely difficult and frustrating sometimes. If you have the memory card space I would look into Escape Plan or Mutant Blobs on PSN.

Apologies for the thread necro, but I have to travel a lot in the coming months for work, and I was considering purchasing this (or any other monster hunter title) for my PSP. Interested in single-player only (don't have the energy to figure out the hardware and config for real online multiplayer, and I don't know anyone else with a PSP). Anyone care to pick one for me, and/or to steer me away from the games in general? Thanks!

Disgaea 3 if you like strategy JRPGs. It's a LONG game but plays well in bit sized chunks.

Good to know. I'll add that one to my list. I've been really interested in the Monster Hunter franchise though so that's still at the top of my list, if I can only decide which one to get!

I've been playing Mortal Kombat, great port and great game. Check the PSN for some PS+ sales. I picked up Hot Shots for under $20.

Don't think there is a Vita Monster Hunter yet. Vita is backwards compatible with downloadable PSP games though.

Gravity rush another game worth trying. Though it can be confusing at times. The gravity shifting gameplay makes it a bit of a unique platformer.

Yeah, I'm still using a regular old PSP. I posted in this thread because someone had recommended Monster Hunter Freedom Unite when the OP asked for Vita recommendations. That's the game I'm likely to grab, unless someone has experience with any of the other PSP Monster Hunter titles and recommends that one over Freedom Unite. Thanks all for the other recommendations...added them all to my wishlist

You could consider Fifa soccer, I have it and I usually hate soccer games but its pretty fun.

The Vita version of Persona 4 is supposed to be an enhanced version of the PS2 version, unlike the PSP version of Persona 3 which lost all of the cut scenes.

It's in the $30 sale at Newegg that Aikouka mentioned.

It was alreay mentioned, but I'm enjoying the Vita version of Mortal Kombat quite a bit. If you keep an eye on the HD section here or SlickDeals you can find it for $20 or less on sale at various places at different times. Well worth it at that price.

I've also been playing a lot of Pinball Arcade. You do have to buy packs of tables which I'm not entirely thrilled about, but they're well done and if you like pinball you'll get a lot of time out of it. IIRC the base game is $10 which comes with 2 tables, and other 2 table packs are $5 each. So you can get all tables released to date for $20.

I was just going to mention the Persona 4 release, and according to the blurb on NewEgg, it has added voice acting compared to the original PS2 version, which would be nice. IMO P4 wasn't as good as P3, but it was definitely still a solid Persona game.

Much longer term, there's Final Fantasy X HD, assuming it makes it states side.

Saw this at CAG, I preordered Persona 4, Zero Escape, Street Fighter x Tekken, and Dragon's Crown. Thinking of ordering Call of Duty as well.

The irony is that my passion for console gaming died with SNES and didn't get back until I got a PS3 at launch. Even then, it sat and collected dust and I recently sold it and picked up a Vita a few months back. Because of having a family and a job that demands a lot of hours, Vita is perfect for me for some quick sessions. There are a lot of PSP games I missed, so I am catching up on that. Too bad Vita isn't as appealing to a lot of gamers at this point though.

I was pretty much the same. There wasn't a lot from the previous two generations that made me say "damn, I gotta have that game". Had an N64 but only had four games for it. First console I bought in forever was the PSP.

The problem with the Vita as well as the PSP is games, or lack there of. When it comes to their portables, Sony is happy rehashing PS2 and PS3 games down for the small screen. No variety, nothing really suitable for portable gaming, no killer app. They don't get the treatment the big boys get, with blockbuster AAA first party titles. It's a shame really. I've been saying for awhile that Sony needs to make the Vita more like an iPod Touch, with better/more non-gaming apps and wide open to indie devs. It's just not happening though.
