Need suggestions for a new mouse..G5 or mx518

My mx510 broke and I bought a razor copperhead but after few hours of playing games my hands starts hurting. Maybe its the way I put my hand on the mouse because I've been using mx510 and mx500 for probably 6 years. I can't get use to the copperhead, so I think I'm going to return it.

I figure I'm not going to try a new design anymore and either use an mx518 or G5. I was wondering which one would you guys suggest? I heard the mx518 is light but I'm use to the weight on mx510 and is it the same weight as that? I also don't use a mousepad, there isn't enough space on my desk and I dont intend on buying one.

How high do you keep your sensitivity in games? If you keep it high, get the G5. If you keep it lower, get the MX518 or the Razer DeathAdder.

Get the mx518, if you liked your 510 then the 518 is almost exactly the same mouse.

If you already like the shape of the Mx510 then just go with what's familiar and what works, the Mx518. I've been using mine for years with no complaints but I've got tons of good things to say about it. I don't know about the weight of the 510 but I've never found the 518 heavy, it's pretty light to me at least. The 518 tracks fine on a desktop, I just prefer to use a soft mousepad since it's easier on my wrist.

Another nod for the MX518. Mine has served me flawlessly for about 3 yrs now.

I have both and I must say that the MX518 is more convenient with the forward button, which the G5 lacks. They are the same, shape wise.

This is incorrect. All new G5s come with the forward button:

Vote for the G5 here, they are even reasonably priced with the G9 out now.

I have the mx518 and g7 and theres a few things about the newer ones that bug me, first being the g7 doesn't have a forward button, I guess the g5 does though. The main thing is the thumbrest is glossy on the g7 and I don't like the feel of that compared to the rubber on my mx518. That and the feet on the bottom of my 518 have started to come off. Other than that it's worth using.
