Free? That's a nice score. Where can you use remote power? Solar charging will keep some lights going, or you can use them for little motors(maybe kid's toys), backup power for your sump pump, UPS battery, rig your own power supply with an inverter when the grid goes down... There's tons of things. You were given the gift of magic. Power you can carry around in your hands. It's like Bioshock, but not quite as cool :^D

They are new in the sense of that they were never used.. He said they having been sitting around his shop for about 18 months. There are 3 batteries per box and they have jumper wires connecting them in series for 36 volts. They jumper wires are easily removable. It would not be too hard to connect them to get any multiple of 12v.
They were intended to be used on a walkbehind/push-type cordless electric lawnmowers.

I was thinking of using them to pump water from an inground pool to the top of my roof .. where i could build some type of solar water heater and let the water return back into the pool. I would need to purchase some type of solar panel to keep these batteries charged.

About 3 of these batteries weigh about as much as a good sized car battery... I not sure what car batteries currently fetch at the scrap yard... I would like to use the batteries till they wont recharge anymore ... then scrap them

18 months? Top them off and make sure they can still take a charge.

Then hook them all up in series and......have fun.

Hell, hooking that many up in parallel could also be fun. I recommend using copper pipe for the conductors though. You know, just in case. :sneaky:
