my guess is you downloaded a movie in avi format and want to burn to cd for viewing in your dvd player....? if so, you probably won't be able to. dvd players cannot read avi... only mpg. nero can re-encode that file for you, but i personally dont like the job it does. looks like a$$ when it's done. you really need to re-encode with tmpgenc or cce and do a good job with it. it turns it into a vcd or svcd. and will most likely require 2 cds instead of just one for the avi. this takes time even on a powerful system. you're better off finding the file in mpg format already from someone who knows how to do a good job.
suggest you read up here
http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ and look at their lists to see if your dvd player supports either vcd or svcds. also research here
http://www.doom9.org/ for more info.
if you are not trying to play this file in your dvd player, then ignore all this and just write the file to a cd like any other data/music file and playback on your rig anytime you like.
