Need to buy an unlocked Iphone and an Ipad2, where are the best places to buy?

Hi all,

I have a request from family members to get them UNLOCKED Iphone 4S and Ipad2 as Christmas presents.

Since I am clueless about Apple (never own one) so I am asking ya'll to give me some ideas of where to get one or two that are NOT fake and with fair price.

AFAIK, the only place to legitimatly get a unlocked iPhone in the US is from the Apple store. Doesn't look like they do unlocked iPads with 3g.

iPad's are basically unlocked as they are... Both the original iPad and the iPad2 are not carrier locked. You can swap the SIM on a 3G enabled iPad2 for AT&T - it takes a micro-SIM though. It says it's AT&T, but it will work internationally. There's no locking to it.

As far as the iPhone 4S unlocked, you really don't have a lot of choices for an unlocked iPhone. It's Ebay, Amazon, or Apple. Generally I find that Apple has the best price on them. It's $650 for 16GB at Apple. It's a micro-SIM too though.

Your best choice for the 4S is to get them unlocked at Apple for ~$650.
Theres no known unlocking for the new 4S that I know of so just get one unlocked.
The iPads are cheaper here but not that much cheaper than in VN.
Its not like back in the old days where gadgets are $200-$500 premium in VN.
I found that most electronic stuff are readily available and not that much more expensive.
Unless you are a deal seeker know how to search for the absolute lowest price here.

For iPad 2, be on the lookout for the refurbished section on http://store.apple.com. If you are lucky, there are days when you can get a refurb iPad 2 3G (AT&T) for $569 or so. Apple refrub units are practically brand new save for the box that they come in. In fact, the QC for refurb units might actually be mpre rigorous than factory-QC ones from my experience.

For iPhone 4S, your only choice is to order online, also at http://store.apple.com.

Otherwise, there isn't a lot of places you can get those devices for cheap. Craigslist is also a good source for local deals, but since you don't know Apple stuffs really well, I wouldn't recommend it.
