i have a T1 with 512kb of bandwidth
i am getting DSL with 1.5 of bandwidth

i want to be able to combine the bandwidth, or at least somehow tell the workstations to use both connections

can i just add the 2nd router ip to my GLOBAL scope in the DHCP manager ?

can the DHCP manager actually assign 2 gateways, and if so, will the workstation use both or just chose one ?

i am trying to find a way to use both connections without spending alot of money on new equipment

How much is a lot of money? you can get a dual wan router that should load balance the two connections. may run you a couple hundred dollars.

a cheaper method would be to take an old pc and install ipcop with 3 network cards. this should work but maybe someone here with more expierence with ipcop can comment on this possiblity. thanks

I would like to point out that it isn't a T1 if it has only 512K bandwidth. T1's run at 1.544

You can run a T1 from 64 - 1544 Kbs. Called a fractional T1.

At work, I have cable 5mbs and 4 channels in a T1 giving me 1mb up/down. The cable is connected thru the router - DHCP server, and the fractional T1 has fixed IPs and I have simply connected it to one of the 24 port switches. I have a peer to peer - no AD - in windows 2000s.

I am going to assume you?re not canceling the T1 because it?s still under contract and you don't want to get banged with termination fees. SO with that in mind why not just use the T1 as a failover option if the DSL connection drops? A Cisco Pix could handle that no problem...
