Need to get some photos off of an Ipod...

I know Anapod will work, but I'm a cheapass and don't want to pay $25 just to get some photos off of an Ipod.

When I store photos on my iPod, I can just retrieve them through Windows Explorer. That won't work?

Its a 30GB video IPOD. I can't find a true photos directory. The only thing I can find is a couple xyz.thmb files, but can't find a program to open .thmb files. Damn proprietary BS.

Were the photos added to the iPod through iTunes? They might only be thumbnails if you went through iTunes, because there's an extra option of transferring the full res photo too.

Went through all of em. None of the free ones support photos. Looks like I might have to bite the bullet. Actually, its for a friend whose laptop was stolen, only has the pictures on the Ipod.

hopefully he has the full sized images as well as the shrunken down sized pics on his ipod...
