Need to know if this is relatively safe?

Hi all,

I just got a new mobo for my 2.4B and I've been having fun with it.. mwahaha

HOWEVER! I need to know if I'll be safe with this setup. I'm at 55C or so under full load running Prime95 and doing random things in the background. Is that within decent limits for the P4 as long as my system is stable? Also, the mobo I have has no PCI/AGP lock and I'm running at an FSB of 161. Could this harm components in the long run? I've known friends to have o/c'd systems last years and years, but I'm just a little worried as I've never run a PC this hot or fast before.

Any info would be great, thanks!

Temps are fine... No pci/agp lock would concern me at that fsb. It is not to hard to hose your windows install with corrupted files.

Is there any way to test the integrity of my individual components like my HD, specifically? Or is it just basically trial and error?

max recommended speed is 80agp/40pci even for hardcore overclockers.

if your mobo temp sensors are good and you have a ecent mother board you dont really have to worry about over heating the p4. its very durable, and the mother board should shut it down well befor it gets hot enugh to do perminent damage.

Doh...well, the PC mysteriously rebooted overnight while running Prine95, so it seems 2.9 might not be for me. That was running at 40mhz on the PCI bus anyways. I bumped my FSB down to 150mhz which puts my PCI at 37 or 38 and I upped my memory voltage and speed a little bit. 2.8v on memory relatively safe? It seems to be the only way I can get into Windows and stay stable at DDR450. These OCZ sticks have some big ol' copper heatspreaders.
