Since the first time didnt work, do you have to pay the second time around?

I didn't. They told me that it would be no charge and then they proceeded to charge me and it was $200 more than the first time (which was approximately 1.5 to 2 months earlier). I called, the lady put me on hold (to talk to doctor) and came back and said it was taken care of. All I had to do was take the samples in and be declared clean.

No, but was a little nervous the first time.


A former co-worker had one done, jumped in his truck and drove 6 hours to see his girl in another state, had sex that night and split his stitches on one side. He didn't go back to the doctor and said it took over a week for the hole to complete heal over with band-aids.

Never had a need/request for a sample after mine was done.

Some MDs are good enough that there is no concern. However there was a choice of helpers, assistant or myself.

Wait... like, you hold your junk while the doc snips?

If they need it raised, they can get a beautiful lady (oh please oh please) to do that task.
I plan to not once look the doc in the eye, not one even glance in the general direction of my junk, let alone place my hands near the area of operations. Too much blasphemy, I'll have no part in it aside from agreeing it's a good idea to get it done. From that point, I'm completely hands-off!

You hold/play with your junk a couple of times a day; what is the difference when you are helping the MD. All I was asked to do was pull back on the scrotum.

This reminds me. I should call up the urologist who did mine and have them run another sample. It's been a few years and while I was cleared after the 6 month sample, I would like to just have some confirmation.

I knew it was a long shot, but unfortunately there is absolutely no information out there on the issue.

Moral of the story - take your time off after the procedure, and absolutely do the follow up tests.

It's technically not yer nuts. It's at the top of your sac that they make a small incision. It's a 30 minute procedure, requires no general anesthetic, and recovery takes about 3 days. Failure rate is something like 1 in 1000. Not terrible odds. All things said it's safe, reliable, inexpensive (I paid $600 out of pocket) and a one time thing.

There is another less invasive method for vasectomies now, called no scalpel vasectomy I think. It still requires one small hole but doesn't need stitches or anything.

If you have 30 minutes a day of free time to do that, more power to you. I surely don't. Plus what happens if you skip a day and you bump some uglies. Hi dad! Vasectomies are the easiest way to ensure no-prego if you are a long term couple. It's still no replacement for actual protection. It does nothing for STD's.

At this point in my life, on weekdays I probably have ~3 hours of free time a day. Weekends it's probably around 12-15 depending how much I sleep.

Meh, once I'm old enough for a sack snip I probably won't even want to bang my wife. I suppose it's worth it anyway but I won't be pleased...
