Need To Securly Wipe My Hard Drive - Tool Recommendations?

Hi All,

For once I'm not posting about an OC question...

I just sold my again Compaq Armada M700 on ebay. I wanted to securely wipe the hard drive before I reinstall the OS and basic apps. Not that I have anything to hide but I have been using the laptop to purchase things online, run Microsoft Money, develop my Web Site, etc. All things I'd rather not someone else be able to recover.

So are there any good (possibly free also) utilities to use to effectively erase my harddrive without the possibility of recovery. I figure I'll then re-format and install XP

wouldn't format c: work just as well? plus it is free too

killdisk overwrites the drive once (up to 99 times on the pro version) with zero's. format c: leaves recoverable data.
