Need to Wipe HardDrive Clean, Winxp+Mandrake Linux Dual boot setup

I have a Windows XP Pro and Mandrake Linux dual boot config on my hard drive. I want to blow both of them off the hard drive and start with a clean WinXP install. How do I do the equivalent of "fdisk" so that both OS's are removed or can be written over?

Install XP again, and during the initia part, delete the partitions that exist. then quit setup after the format happens (or maybe before) What is going in there next ?

Do you just have two OS or do you have a partition?


If there is no partition a classic - format C:

will work fine

I setup Mandrake with the boot loader and have it on it's own partition. I let Win XP have the rest of the hard drive when I installed it.

A combination of software errors, a virus and errors removing spyware have left my xp sick enough that it can't restore itself. I've limped along with this for a month and it only boots every 2nd or third attempt and then doesn't load all drivers and programs. I've probably deleted or allowed another program to delete some very necessary files.

I have nothing to lose. I have already saved all important files to cd. I'm on the road for a few months at a time and off for just a few days so I don't want to spend another 3 days trying to get an hour's work done.

use fxdisk or parted.
i have the exact same setup btw.
