Need upgrade advice

I build computers on the side for people. I have a guy that wants one and wants to spend as little money as possible. Here is my current system:

Duron 600@900 (1000 in the winter)
256 CAS 222 Muskin ram
Abit KT7 motherboard
Voodoo 5 5500
Windows XP

I thought I could maybe sell him my motherboard and cpu and get a DDR board like the Epox and a 1.4 ghz Thunderbird. Later I am going to get a geforce 3. The prices are too high right now. Would I see a big difference in this new setup? I know I do not REALLY need it. Also would the new setup help me later when I do get a Geforce 3? thanks!

yeah that voodoo5 isn't gonna give you even close to as good performance as a gf3 (I should know I have a v5) and you're also gonna see a lot of improvement with a thunderbird 1.4 over that duron, especially if you use DDR and overclock it.

That sounds like a good idea to me. You get a cheap upgrade and he gets a cheap upgrade - everybody wins!
If you go ECS (SiS 735 chipset) for ~$70
and 1.4 T-bird for ~$110
and RAM for ~$40
that is just ~$220
and if you can get ~$100 for your old stuff, that's only ~$120 net for an awesome upgrade!
