How are your monitors connected?

I've had a lot of issues like this with displayport monitors. Basically, a lot of graphics cards and monitors have defective displayport firmware and will temporarily drop a monitor connection, and then restart it. This causes the OS to think a monitor was disconnected and reconnected, so all graphics, etc. get reinitialised.

This is particularly the case for monitors built before 2013. Prior to this many manufacturers just hadn't really got to grips with displayport, and there are quite a few monitors which can't maintain a stable connection.

Even with modern monitors and graphics cards with the latest firmware, faulty cables can do the same - and again displayport tends to be a bit more sensitive, as the connection/control signals are transmitted at high speed along with the pixel data, not separately at low speed like on a DVI connection.

This can be a tricky one. Looks like it's a TDR which can have a lot of causes. Read this if you haven't already and as you can see it's can be a fairly wide range of things.

I would recommend to begin with checking that you processor and memory have some basic stability by running something like Prime95. You've done a full reinstall so that's something to check off. Have you checked the cards temps? I'm not sure WOW would overheat a card usually but if there is some major issue with the heatsink mounting or the fans it may. Worth a quick check.

There is a chance that the card has just lost the plot for good but lets hope not. GL.

Check your PSU. Make model etc.

Exactly what would you like me to check and how? It's a 1000W PSU. Here is the exact PSU I have.

Monitors are connected with 1 DVI Connector straight from monitor and the other 2 monitors are connected with DVItoDP adapters because The card only has 1 DVI connector.

Nice post, However, there is actually no TDR message at all. I have checked the Event logs and there is nothing in there. I just never mentioned it but have tested the CPU with Prime95 and memory with memtest already as well. I also ran VMT against the GPU's (although not long enough) and didn't find any issues. Temps of the card are fine. I have attached a GPU-z log output that I also recorded to see if I could see anything specific. See the following link for the output.

1 DVI Connector direct to the card cause it only has 1 DVI Connector
2 DP Connectors via a DPtoDVI adapter.

When this happens, there is no TDR messages at all. I have checked the Event logs and nothing is in there. I have tested with Prime95, Memtest, VMT and GPU-z logging with no obvious results. Here is the link to my GPU-Z.

Is there a way to identify whether the ports are passive or active? These DP adapters have been in use for two years already and the problem has only been present for the past month or so.

Can you find the part number of the adapter? I've read they can go bad. Maybe try 2 screen eyefinity and switch the adapters around to see if you can isolate a bad one? I know the third monitor has to be connected to DP in eyefinity because of some timing requirements. Longshot but have you tried switching to different ports on the 7990?

I keep submitting my replies but some of them need to go for moderation. How annoying!

Connect one screen at a time and play a while on each screen by itself. If all three work that way, then play with two screens. Try all three combinations of two screens.

Your problem is using these connectors:

2 DP Connectors via a DPtoDVI adapter.

The signal conversion from DP to DVI is causing syncing and hand shake issues. If it worked fine before and just started happening recently = could indicate the IC in the cables are failing.

It is better to use the same input/output technology from your monitor to your graphics cards.

So if your monitors has a DisplayPort input to go with your card's DisplayPort output use that connection. If you don't have DP input in your monitor - try new adapter conversions then
