Need wireless solution for desktop

Basically what the title says. I am looking for something that will allow my desktop to connect to the internet wirelessly. USB or PCI solutions both work, as long as the USB solution does not suffer decreased speeds.

I've used this for quite a while on my old motherboard (I don't use it now because I have ethernet cable). Pair with a very good wireless router and you'll have no problems. When I used this card at school (primarily) I never lost a connection. More often than not the school's wireless AP would go down before I experienced a lost connection with this card. Granted I haven't tried this card with online streaming of HD video, I would look into Wireless-N cards once.

i just purchased a ZyXEL for 23.99 AR from amazon, but the thing causes my windows XP to freeze. stay away from that brand. perhaps...

i like that it came with a 3 ft USB cable though so you can position it for better reception.

There might be issues with your wireless router and the ZyXel USB wireless card, but I don't know for sure. It's good to let people know when you have issues too, so no worries there.

What wireless router do you have Phexac??

I personally like PCI cards over USB ones, but it all depends on the intended use. I've used Wireless USB sticks for light gaming, but I've experienced some extra lag with them (of coarse this was about 5 yrs. ago). If you want/need faster downloads than the Wireless "N" type routers and wireless cards would be something to consider. If your just hooking up to an existing router than I'd recommend getting a good name brand PCI wireless card (D-Link, Linksys, Netgear). I'm currently boycotting Belkin parts, because I've had several issues with several of their parts. I've done just about every conceivable sofware/firmware update on the Belkin routers and still have had issues. So my recommendation is to stay away from any Belkin products, if you can.

Why? Cause it has good chipset and the External Extended Antenna put it in a better reception position than the others.

Drivers are also easily avaiable for all common x32 an x64 OS', http://www.edimax.us/html/english/frames/b-download.htm

Nice find, do you use this adaptor or have you used it before?? I've never used that brand before so I'm just curious about it.

Nice to hear that about the use of the wireless card. I'm always trying to find affordable, but reliable pc parts, so I'm going to add this to my "Wireless" parts to buy!!
