NeedHelp P4 system slow running Win2K

i have a P4 2.4 with ECS board L4vxa2 it did run good for about 3 months then all of a sudden my system went slow..slow like a turtle...i have a domain every time i restart my pc it just takes time to go back to the logon screen then when your ready to logon it does the same thing it takes time a lot of time...then when i play counter strike its making a slow motion..i did change my V-card still the same thing.....reinstalled the OS same thing.......ANY HELP is appreciated....


is it the RAM?
or the BOARD?
or the CPU?

it could either be one of them...please HELP ME!!!!!

Board........ ECS L4VXA2
cpu............P4 2.4
memory......256mb DDR by crucial
HDD............80gig 7200rpm western digital
DVD-rom.....Lite-on
V-card.........Gforce 64mb
OS..............Win2k

I've been seeing alot of p4 system slow down to a crawl when usb devices are plugged in. something to look into, but it's likely the cache settings in your bios have been changed for some reason. you might try re-setting you bios to defaults, and go back through it and re-optimize it.

Have you recently added any hardware or software onto the computer before the slowness occured only to notice that it slowed down right after?

you prob need an athlon Xp. No try and see if its a problem with your drive. Try to run a hardrive benchmark and see if yours is VERY low. if that is the case it could be a bad drive or even a virus or trojan.

i tried the bios settings re-optimized still doing the same thing slow to boot up still wont run counter strike....loaded Xp pro still the same... what would this be i have infrared plug in to the USB all the time would that be the cause? but how come 2 months ago it was fine?????????

i didnt add any hardware or software lately.....

It may be throttling down because of heat.

the temp on the cpu is 39 degrees so is that hot or not?
