Neighbood suspect Asian neighbors are eating the neighborhood's cats.

Maybe if you and your neighbors didn't let your cats roam freely around the neighborhood, this would not be so much of a complaint. Let me guess, you guys "own" cats but your idea of taking care of them is having them run stray and once in a while they come around for food?

I worked as an animal nuisance/cruelty investigator for a couple of years. One time I went on a call to see about a stray rooster in a residential neighborhood . I discovered that it belonged to some aquaintences of mine that happened to be Chinese. I also noticed that they had a dog in an extremely small cage alongside the house. As we were talking about the rooster i asked this guy outright if the dog was a pet dog or a food dog. He laughed and told me it was a pet. The rooster was for food though so I explained that they needed to get it in a cage and feed it, and do something else with the dog because the cage was too small. There is no law agianst using dogs and cats for food in that state or municipality. However, the laws are more lax for livestock animals.

Animal cruelty is usually defined as needlessly causing pain or death to an animal.

IMHO if your neighbors are hungry and eating stray cats (any cat outdoors and not under the control of its owner) they are making better use of them than the owner is. If the cats in question aren't spayed or neutered you get even less sympathy. Unless YOUR cat goes missing AND there is evidence of foul play, you have no business calling the police.

Did you read what you just typed? It made absolutely no sense. Cats are going missing an RedPickle is asking why the OP thinks it's specifically the Asian family that is responsible since "down the street" includes many neighbors. Things don't have to turn "racist" if they already are.

And im sure its common to pick up stray cats , bring them into the house to give them some tender love and care then re-release into the wild.

Actually that does happen when stray cats come into my garage while I'm working and just stay there. I'll give it food and water. Then it'll hang out with me until I finish, then I remove it from my garage. I also have seen neighbors who do the same thing with dogs and cats. My workplace gets these stray dogs that keep coming back because we feed and play with them. So......??

In defense to the OP, I've never met a suburban family that keeps their cat locked up all the time. I always see neighborhood cats roaming around outside near their owners' house. I always thought that you're supposed to let cats out every once in a while so they can exercise.

I don't think the OP should have to confine his cat to his house for fear of anything happening to it. It should be reasonably safe in a suburban/rural area.

You must not give a crap about your cat if you would let it roam in a neighborhood where numerous cats have recently gone missing. If your neighborhood does not have missing cats, it's still not something I would do, but it's certainly not as moronic as complaining about missing cats and then saying you don't want to stop the cat from roaming in the area where a bunch of cats have gone missing.

Oh, and yes, TONS of people feed cats then release them. It's very, very, very common.

No, if they were black or white, you'd say that they were just stealing the neighborhood cats or killing them. The "eating cats" idea came from a stereotype. Have a friend hiding out with a video camera, and maybe he'll record an attempted abduction. Some asian ( china ) DO eat cats and dogs. I've even been offered some while I was in China. My ex-gf who is chiness never ate some while she was in china ( born and lived there for 18 years ) but her father did. Apparently dog meat is pretty good but cat meat do taste like p*ss. So there is a remote possibility that the OP is right, especialy if they don't speak english (meaning they are from asia, not behing native(born or raised) in america).

I don't think he is racist or xenophobe (anyway from what I read here). I don't think calling the police would be a good idea. Insted find a way to talk to them.

BTW they do eat rats too and apparently it's delicious.

First off, if this is just racial profiling, you're an ass.

Otherwise, if you legitimately think a neighbor is kidnapping animals and eating them, the safest thing to do is to keep your cat indoors.

Otherwise, get one of those GPS tracking implants. While it won't prevent your cat from being stolen, you can at least find those responsible. Assuming it's accurate enough (i.e. if you live in an apartment complex, it's not going to work out).
