I can see this, especially getting to spend so much time there... you know, measuring things.
I had a similar experience as a courier driver, but it's hard(er) to take initiative in the 30 second interaction. But let's just say, when you're standing politely at the door waiting for her to sign, and you get invited inside unnecessarily, you know good things are afoot. I kinda miss that job.
I knew a guy in college who sold Rainbow vacs door to door, same deal. That dude got more ass than a toilet seat. He would say 'If she asks me to come in for a demo, 80% chance I'm getting laid.' Way more ...rewarding than working in a mall, which is where I was at the time.
