Neighbor's dogs bark off and on all day... weekdays

You attract even more flies by having loads of piles of dog shit all over your lawn, so I guess that you're doing well by the "how many flies can I attract" metric.

Tell her not to let her dog shit on your lawn. If it does in front of you again punt it down the street.

Well, I'm sure local ordinances forbid that, not to mention my conscience. It's a very small pekinese doing this and I'm not seeing its droppings all over the very small lawn (not much over 100 square feet), and I've seen it in just one corner, so it's been easy to spot. Larger dogs crapping on my lawn are a much bigger problem, ahem. I can clean it up myself with the plastic bags that my newspaper comes in, but I don't like the fact that this lady escorts the dog to my lawn for it's relief. I think she could find another spot where people aren't apt to step, is my point, and yes like someone I met many years ago said "they'll walk all over you if you let them." She was speaking generally about people and was a black African American woman, BTW (as is the woman who walks this dog).

I could do that, don't know if it would help.

In terms of me being the guy who coordinates a neighborhood revolt against this guy, well I could, but it would be out of character. That's not to say I can't or shouldn't. Anyway, the people just north of him are a lot closer (about 1/4 the distance of my house) and have two small kids, are 4 people and I live alone. Still, I can lead the charge. Right now I think we have to give the guy a week or two to do something. The dog is barking as I type, it's been 4 days since I called Animal Services. They came out to assess the situation 7 days ago. I don't know exactly when or how Animal Services put the guy on notice. I think we have to give the guy some more time before tightening the screws on the him, another week or two. If there isn't noticeable improvement by that time I suppose the next step is to contact the other complainer and get them to go into the Animal Services office and sign a complaint, I will do the same and then the guy will get a citation. I don't know what happens with that citation, have no idea, maybe it's a fine, a fine + warning, just don't know, but it appears to be the next step. Perhaps a petition would help, don't know if the system would respond to a petition.

Seriously it's not ok that people let their dogs crap on your lawn (hell, they are encouraging them to by the sound of it), it is absolutely fine for you to tell them (not ask them) not to and prevent them from doing so if you are there.

What you want is one so loud, that the animals will violently try to get away.

I have a mind today to knock on his door (when I think he's home, which is not now) and explain to him that letting his dog bark/bellow on like this is tantamount to subjecting his neighbors to psychological torture, and I don't think that's an exaggeration. It's the truth and I'll tell him that he should be ashamed of himself. I think that will make an impression on him. I have a reputation among people who know me as a person with a temper. I keep it in check most of the time but when I think it's time for it, it is on display.

I don't keep an eye on my front lawn. 97% of the time I can't see what's going on out there. It really barely concerns me compared to the barking dog problem, that's 100x as annoying easily.

You could try to get a passive IR detector as well. i have seen cheap ones that come with a connection for a lamp and a timer and a daylight detector.
And are suited for outdoor use.
Instead of a lamp you could connect a wall adapter that powers the ultra sonic repelling the device. And it might help to cover up the daylight connector.

Something similar as this one i bought long ago.

If you do get an passive ir detector with relay out, make sure you also have a sort of main switch inside near your door to disable the power. Otherwise, people with dogs you do want to have around are not going to be happy with you. And make sure you an ultra sonic generator with over a 100dB sound level.

Do a mixture of water and cayenne pepper and spray it on your yard.

You don't want to use pure cayenne pepper as it can hurt the dog but a mixture will work enough to keep the dog away short of the owner placing it directly on the yard.

Unless you catch the owner doing it and going after her you need to get the dog to use another yard and avoid yours.

It should help repel the dog from going on the property because of the smell.

you have no idea the number of things my neighbour did.

she wasn't a bad person. She just didn't think before doing things.

more examples:

using our front flower bed as her compost heap.

weeding her backyard flower beds and throwing the weeds into ours.

removing stones and rocks from her backyard flower beds and throwing them in ours.

watering her front flower beds with our hose.

deciding to use bird feeders in the summer. do you know what happens when you do that?

accuse my family of abusing my grandmother who suffered from dementia.

Back in my apartment days I had a neighbor that had a dog that would bark all night. After asking them to keep quiet and complaining the thing that fixed it was blowing a dog whistle as soon as I woke up in the morning to get the dog up and get the dog owner even more mad at it then I was.

and mice. lots of them. We had no cat by this time, so the little buggers were infesting her house and ours. They would end up drowned in her pool, too.
