Definitely. JUst get the address and go get your dog. If nothing else, go there and look in the windows and such and as soon as you can verify he's there, call 911 and tell them that someone stole your dog and you think they're going to kill it. Then wait for the fun to ensue. ANd be sure to press all the charges you can. DUmbass kids like that deserve everything you can throw at them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Tell the parents you have a witness and you will be calling the cops and pursuing all charges possible. Then tell the parents that you will be contacting your lawyer and bringing a lawsuit against them if the dog is not returned immediately.

Talk to all the neighbors first and see if anyone saw anything. I'm not sure how I'd handle it tho, I'd be furious.

If you have the time, and if I were you I would make the time for this, you should follow them home or hire a private investigator to do it for you. Find out where they live and try to take a picture of the dog at their home. Take pics first, and then call the cops while you're still there.

EDIT: Nm, I didn't read that the kids gave the dog to someone else.

Judging by the name "Rox", I'm assuming it's a Rott or Pitt Bull. It's more likely they intend to fight the dog. I have two German Shepherds and even though the one has some protection training and has successfully attacked an intruder and defended our property before, I don't let them outside alone.

OP - Now you learned your lesson. Dogs get snatched all the time. Keep your gate locked and seek professional training for you and your dogs. This training will solidify their loyalty towards you (less chance they will let some stranger lead them away) and teach them to vigorously defend your yard and themselves. Those kids should have gone home with gaping flesh wounds and crushed fingers instead of your dog.

Get the girl who told you that to find out where your dog is. Confront the people who stole it and tell them you know where it is. Threaten to beat the shit out of them if they don't recover the dog for you. Tell them you have a knife/gun as well. If they're really 16, they should be shitting their pants by then.

Maybe back when we were coming up. Nowadays 16 year old kids will just have their gang buddies firebomb your house or gun you down on your front lawn if you threaten them like that. Or if they are smart they call the cops and you get arrested for assault on a juvenile.

An excellent suggestion. If that doesn't work, I would call a private investigator.

After reading all the responses, my opinion is it should go down like this. If a step doesn't work, move on to the next:
A) Bring that cousin girl to the cops, a witness = evidence
B) Talk to parents, tell them you have a witness, threaten lawsuit
C) Offer cash to the kids for dog's location while tape recording the conversation, then call cops
D) Go covert and try to find out where the dog is at
E) Study jiu-jitsu and boxing for 2 years until the kids are 18 and then exact revenge.

They do, but the kids do not go to school.. Normally on the run or kicked out of their house.. etc..

The mom has ZERO control over them anyhow, so I dont see why they wouldnt tell her who they gave it either.

Oh man, this pisses me off. It's not like there aren't dozens of dogs at the animal shelter that would love to have a home. No, they had to take yours. I would suggest going about this more covertly, so that perhaps they would let their guard down sometime.

Although, I wonder what would happen if you saw the dog in the front yard or the back yard and just picked it up and walked away with it even if the kids were there. I mean, you can't steal your own property back. Bring pictures of you with the dog to show any adults who may try to stop you.

I don't think they stole his dog because they love animals.

I imagine they did it because they were bored and they decided they wanted a dog. Although, I guess you could call up the humane society saying they stole your dog and are torturing it.
