Also, people who say that Mandela's rule increased GDP are kind of full of it, aren't they? The sanctions in place guaranteed that S. Africa would have shitty GDP until they were lifted.
I get why people like him and Ghandhi and MLK are deified. Namely, the powers that be do want change to be non-violent (and I do, too), but the problems are still in place and I don't see S. Africa being a place someone would want to emigrate to happening anytime soon.
