Well... which one would you go with? Is it worth the wait for the MSI? Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.

I'd go with whatever came along first... and it just so happens I got the Asus late last night/today.

I just noticed on zipzoom that the asus is listed as having a 800mhz FSB and the MSI has a 1000mhz, did Asus have some problems? Does yours work at 1ghz FSB?

I need a board that can go at least to 266mhz FSB, and be stable, can these do that while providing enough voltage to get the ram to DDR533?

yeah, but MSI has no PCIe x1 slots, which seriously lowers your upgrade potential. I think it's pretty rediculous. Anyways, the Asus board supports 200MHz-400MHz in 1MHz increments, so i'm sure it can hit 266 no problem. Performance so far seems rock stable, but i'll let you all know in a week when i have my new system up and running (yeah, i ordered the Asus yesterday, too).

Asus boards are typically superior to other brand boards using the same platform. The Neo2 took the spotlight probably because Asus does not have a nForce3 Ultra board and that chipset is slightly higher performance than the K8T800 boards, which is all Asus has to offer until now.

I'd be willing to bet, esp with the close partnership between nVidia and Asus that the A8N-SLI will be the fastest board to get for some time.

PS: I currently have the Neo2 and lovin it, with a A8N-SLI in the mail

It looks like this board may have problems with a big heatsink, like the XP-120 or CNPS7700, running over the first DIMM slot.

Other than that, a bit cheaper than the Asus, and with prices starting to move towards MSRP, it does seem like the initial a$$-rape is over.

This board compared to tha Asus and Gigabyte has also another problem (not for all peeps of course but a one for those wanting to use SLI) that is that the distance between the two pci-e ports is very small and there is a chance that the secondary card (the one closer to the cpu) will overheat since it has little to zero breathing space...

Also the MSI board is a bit underspeced comared to tha other boards in my opinion, and the existance of no pci is not something negligible...

BTW I have a Neo2 as well.

All these boards had to pass nV's SLI certification didn't they?

Zipzoomfly is taking back orders. Expected delivery is 12/28/04 as of yesterday. Cost is $189 or $209 for SLI. Good luck.

Yes, and they're just following what nVidia recommended. It is ASUS who is doing something different (and better).
