Neon Genesis Evangelion - just finished watching it for the 1st time

Just finished watching episode 26. What the heck? The last three episodes were interesting (albeit seriously weird), but completely different from the previous 7 DVD's. There's no explanation for any of the mysteries in the main plot, much less any indication of what finally happens. It's like they just quit in the middle of the story. :|

No wonder people were so pissed off about the ending.

Guess I gotta go find the movies now. Hope they clear things up.

Not one of my favorite endings since it didn't seem to be foreshadowed by anything coming before. I also couldn't stand Shinji, the whiny Hamlet of anime.

RahXephon has a more grown-up main character and a more sensible ending (though still weird).

I've been turned off by animes recently. I've noticed that a lot of 26 episode series will have a rushed ending in the 26th episode, and then leaving you with the feeling like you just wasted a ton of time watching the series with no real satisfaction that you can obtain from a movie. I guess that's why a lot of anime has extra movies or episodes.

But yea... NGE, RahXephon... both had endings I didn't particularly get or enjoy. That goes the same for a lot of current anime too.

I've probably only seen it about 75% of the way through and apparently that's when it starts to go super weird, but I really enjoyed it so far.

I've been meaning to buy the box set.

Watch the movie, End of Evangelion. They ran out of money on the last two eps and had to rush them... The last two are traditionally thought of as Shinji's introspective during the events of that movie.

I was only able to make it through about a half dozen episodes; it didn't hold my attention too well. I'll probably try the series again some time.
