yep thats how i feel about gamer chicks, or pretty much any computer girl. once you go to school for computers you see who is in the field. it aint pretty

I guess it depends on which school you went to.

ok, i'm gonna bite ...

i put the window and neon in my case 'cause i was bored of the standard beige box. i also like to be able to see (and show off ;-) ) all of the cool and expensive components i have. i like the color of the lights (i'm using a blue and a purple), a nice soothing glow. finally, it allows me to verify fan operation and check the status led's on my mobo without having to crack the case open.

want any other reasons?

Because 10-15 year olds need something to fiddle with after school, until they're old enough to get a job and get off mommy and daddy's teats.

Hmm, I'm 36 years old, married with a 12 month old son at home (which I own-BTW)-how do I fit in to your generalization?

Wow, this and the Apple sucks thread seem to be pretty hot topics.

I am 24 and I just kinda liked the look of a PC with blue glowing lights inside of it. Why have a PC that looks like every other PC?

I am proud of my work and I think people who snub it as a "waste of time" should stfu and go back to looking at your plain white walls, pain looking car, plain looking cloths, and plain looking computer.

this is my waste of time btw:

I think its funny, because so many people have PCs with lights now, in the few years, people will be reverting to beige boxes because they want their PCs to look different...

If you are a big LAN Gamer, the looks of your PC is quite important.

Modding is an art. That is all i have to say.

Aside from some cooling mods, like cutting out stock fan grills, my "modding" has been limited to building really neat and tidy case. Wire ties everywhere, no cables over the CPU or any cards, etc.

But I just bought my first window case and some CCFL tubes. I plan on putting in a fanbus, which is a very FUNCTIONAL accessory. I'm going for the "sleek minimalist NASA type look." Black case, all black drives, black fanbus with nice, small functional LEDs. In truth, the neon will probably be OFF 99% of the time, but it's there for when the guys come over and ask "what's in the case? Pentium 3?" And I'll whip it out, baby!
My philosophy as well. Thanks for the concise summary MichaelD.

Whats the point in putting chrome on cars? Its the same with computers, if you like your plain beige case well good for you.

If you are lookign for Hot Chicks get into psychology or somethign cause they are few and far between in the world of computers. FACT.

True, but they still exist. And when you do find one, you hold on.

I added a couple lights to my case. The red glow from inside my all black (exterior and interior) case looks really cool IMO. I suppose, really, that there is no point. Or, how about this... What's the point iin overclocking? That extra half-second or those extra three fps don't really help. Also, what's the point of this thread...?

Try removing the "opinion" and I am outta here for good . . .

Is that from Geek Mythology?

Actually, one of the IT people where I work is pretty hot. She's hispanic with long brown hair, very petite and a nice tight well, we won't go there. She's not as curvy as Selma Hayek but she knows her way around a computer and she's very easy on the eyes.

I put a nvidia sticker on my computer and got an extra 10 FPS!

But for some reason my image quality seemed to get a little worse....

My friend has a Neon light that flashes when it senses vibration so if you slap the case it does it- or if you have music playing it does it or when he is playing CS it is going crazy the entire match...very cool.

I like to just sit there and vocalize into it - makes me feel powerful that I can control something like that

There are plenty of good looking women in IT. That's a generalization. People getting into IT today aren't the same batch who jumped on the wagon in the past 25yrs. If it's a high paying profession (which IT *can* be), it's going to attract people from all walks.

I work in a firm where I believe they actually made it a requirement that all female employees be drop-dead gorgeous.

I could stick a disco ball inside my old K6-200's case, and it still wouldn't change the fact that the computer sucks.

Either you have a very large computer case or a pretty small disco ball.

I think it would be even more atrocious if you stuck your balls into a super-fast modern machine.

ouch
