Of course he is probably going to say something like "Haters gonna hate" but at least you tried. At least he is bad enough that nobody will ever give him a shot. It isn't like he will be able to eek by getting random small gigs hoping to make it big...he will never get a single dime from this so he won't ever try to live off of it.

It doesn't sound like quitting his job is the worst thing he can do either. I am willing to bet he makes near minimum wage in the service industry and will have no problem getting another job.
