Since a central theme of the Terminator franchise is time travel and how the past and future keep changing but always inevitably reaching the same point, why is this such a big deal?

The first to the second movies were the only ones with any sort of continuity (but themselves were based around the concept of time travel changing reality), and then it became obvious that they were going the changing reality due to time travel angle.

So what if skynet then sent back someone to Sarah's early life and killed her parents and then the humans sent back another terminator to watch over her. That's exactly what's been happening in that universe since Terminator 2....

This is actually the biggest problem, IMO, with the Terminator story. Well except for the time travel paradox stuff. lol According to either the first or second movie, I don't remember which, time travel is supposed to be hard to do. I don't know if it's the energy or what, but they said the machines could send one terminator back to kill her and the resistance could send one man. Then the time travel equipment was supposed to be destroyed. But then they each send another terminator to a different point in time to protect/kill John. Then they do it again. The according to the series they did it a dozen more times. If they really need Sarah or John Connor dead, they should quit spreading their forces out!! Send all 3 Skynet Terminators from the first 3 movies back to the same point in time, maybe 1984 like they orginially planned. I'd say Arnie, the T-1000, and the T-X working together would probably kill Sarah easily, regardless of what the resistance could send back.

And I'm sorry, but unless Emilia Clark gets to bring her dragons from GoT with her, I don't see her standing a chance against whatever Skynet sends this time, regardless of Papa Arnie. I just can't see her in that role.........

FLIR and a Barrett rifle would end that sack of flesh's life. All of Skynet has FLIR and plasma weapons. There's a reason why they only made two Predator films and then made VS titles, because humans let along a Terminator can kill the alien sack of flesh.

I would LOVE to see a Predator kill a HK tank, let along a TX, T-1000 or T-850.

I'm pretty sure the Predators were holding back when hunting humans for the challenge. Like a hunter would use a bow and arrow instead of a full automatic. Since even humans were able to defeat quite a number of the most advanced Terminators, I'm sure the Predators would just wipe the floor with them.

Even so, all Skynet has to do is switch on the next row of terminators in the factory to take the fallen's place. I assume little predators have to grow up and be taught to fight. Skynet would win just in sheer numbers if nothing else, IMHO.

2. We do not know the population or reproduction capabilities of Predators.

3. Predators have huge motherships and have likely colonized many different worlds.

They should have made it that the soldier the T800 was based on was the toughest resistance soldier. Maybe in the original timeline he dies trying to stop the production of the T800, or in some other way. In the new timeline he stops production of the T800, and SkyNet has to base their models on someone else. So John Connor sends the original soldier instead of the T800 back to protect her.

You still have the problem of when Reese arrives and how he and Sarah hook up, but I think this would make more sense if you had to have Arnold in this next movie due to his age. Or just CG him like they did in the fourth movie. In any event, I doubt this movie will be any good. While I didn't think T3 was necessarily bad, T4 was. Rebooting it and forcing an old Arnold in it is a recipe for disaster.

Good point on number 1, I was assuming on number 2 since we don't really know, but I do think it was a safe assumption, and I did not know number 3. I tip my hat to you, sir.

Too much of the same story. I almost got the feeling they even reused the script.
No, i kinda liked what they did in T4. Was hoping for a continuing story line about the future, how an arms race led to skynet developing time travel and more.

The premise for T4 was OK; it was the execution that was bloody awful. A half-decent director rather than 'McG' was needed, as well as some actors with some decent acting chops, and a better script, if they wanted to successfully pull off the similar sort of tone that T2 had where Sarah was questioning whether a Terminator could actually do something good.

When watching T4 for the first time, it piqued my interest for a while. My interest dropped sharply with that scene were the truth is revealed to the character whose name I can't remember, the hybrid/cyborg, by Skynet. The actor's facial expressions mirrored my own, why is Skynet doing this stupid face-morphing thing exactly? Did they have a bit of CGI budget to burn?

I think T4 was a good movie. And i guess, skynet does not have a face. It chose what seemed necessary. It seemed like a collective artificial intelligence/consciousness. Kinda similar as the way the face was build up in matrix revolutions. The machines are not one entity but multiple entities working as one when needed.
