Eh? You took your computer to Fry's to have them do a simple task as reseating CPU/HSF?
First mistake was taking your computer to Fry's. Second was assuming they could complete a simple task.

The decor on the manhattan beach one is hilarious. My "home" Fry's is Fountain Valley. I used to go there fairly often when I was younger, until I realized most of their shit is returns on store shelves. Not as big of a problem NOW, but still.
I only go to Fry's if I'm completely desperate. I'd rather pay for overnight shipping from the egg.
I just moved down here for school this year and I've been going to the FV Fry's ever since. Been there 4-5 times. I had the worst experience ever when I brought in my mobo/cpu/hsf to have them reseat the latter two on the mobo. I actually just got done cleaning the CPU and HSF for whenever I get my RMA board.

Agreed. Love Fry's. Customer service can be lacking at times but it's the ToysRus for electronic heads.

Having been to two Fry's and several different MicroCenters, I can tell you that while Fry's seems like it's all that and more.......once you enter a MicroCenter, you'll flush the memory of Fry's out of your brain. I used to go to Fry's first, then MicroCenter if I had time or the energy to get there. That's radically different now......
For instance, how many brands of case fans does Fry's have on the shelves? Ever find a Scythe S-Flex? A Zalman F3? Answer to both of those is no...........outside their crappy house brand, Antec, and one or two other forgettable and not worth purchasing brands (like maybe Thermaltake), Fry's carries no fans worth a penny. But you'll see those brands and more at MicroCenter.
How about cpu heatsinks.....ever see a Noctua HS/fan at Fry's? How about Arctic Cooling? Nope. But you'll find those brands and many more at MC....Fry's is lucky to have Thermaltake on the shelves......and little else.
Into water cooling? Good luck finding anything worth a damn at Fry's. MicroCenter.....Thermochill and Swiftech radiators, whole line of Danger Den and Swiftech items, along with a smattering of other smaller WC junk.....Primochill tubing, Fluid XP (YECH!), and lots more.
Basically, it works out to this......if it's on MicroCenter's website, it's in their store if it's not sold out. If it's on Fry's website......good luck actually finding it ever stocked in the store. MicroCenter's website completely reflects what you'll find in the store and the B&M store gladly matches any price form their website........contrast this to Fry's.
First, Fry's B&M store will NEVER match its online website price.....they maintain the two are completely separate entities.......and I guess that explains why you can only find aobut 1/3 or so of the items seen on their website actually being stocked in the B&M stores.
Give me MicroCenter any day over Fry's. I do feel quite sorry for all of you stuck with only a Fry's nearby and no MC.....you're missing out on the REAL computer parts store.
