I suppose the cd will come with a serial number?

If the version that you get doesn't work with your burner, you might be able to download version 5.5.5.1 from the nero website and use the serial number that came with the cd. I have nero 5.5 using my serial number from nero 4.0, and it still worked...

Worth paying for... easy crap creator messed up my machine.

Anyway, I got burned by and OEM version. I think the serial # is what determines the
mfr. Luckily, I was able to get a refund (access micro). Great deal if you have the right
drive. I got a copy from somewhere else and have been happy every since.

there is one problem with this software--it only works in windows 2000 if you have administrator privileges. i have it at home and it is great, but at work i installed it and none of the other users can burn CDs. the reason why is that Nero, unlike acraptec easy coaster creator, does not use the windows builtin file handlers, instead issues direct commands to the drives. while this is great, because the OS is actually responsible for the buffer underruns and circumvents them, direct commands are only available to the user class Administrator. i tried Power User, Backup Operator, and nothing works. i don't want to give everyone and their mother admin priv., so i think i am going to have to find another program (maybe even the dread acraptec).

FWIW: I believe an administrator can configure the program so it runs under an administrator account no matter who runs it.

I got nero with my Liteon..how can I tell if it will only run with that burner...what makes the serial cdrw specific

Try using the Nero version that came with the Lite On with a Plextor and you'll find out

nero keygen is what people are talking about. I got it on limewire. Just virus scan anything you get from limewire.

Along with a gang of others I bought nero straight from ahead software online for $70 way back when 4.0 was 1st released. It's waaayyy worth the money! Was so impressed with the results & the dude who runs the webpage, went ahead (no pun intended) and purchased the upgrade key for 5.x when it came along also.

Sure, I coulda used a version from the "net" or dl'd from the dudes page & then use a keygen... BUTT,
like aperry and others I support good sw & pay for it.

The peeps putting themselves on front street like they are in regards to wares & such... should for one, be more discreet. 2 not be announcing to a world audience that they use pirated stuffs. Yeah yeah flame away, but y'all should know by now that these forums are monitored.

Bottom line: nero is tha bomb, a great deal @ $20, but better when you get teh full version with your burner. Use good sense, buy a name brand from a store with a good rep. xcuse the rant.

$20 is a good price, considering it's $50 online from Nero (I think). If you get a version for a particular manufacturer for some reason, I think you are perfectly justified in downloading a serial key generator, which will provide a serial for your particular hardware. Sure, technically it's illegal, but they got their $$$.
