went to OM at 11am (opening time here) this morning and went straight to shelf and they were all gone. Manager said a guy came in last night and bought them all to price adjust today. I suggested substituted and he didnt have one, so i suggested the 80gb netdisk drive they had at an adjusted price, and he said ok. I took 2 of them.
Gave me each one for 27.72, i had a 10 off 30 coupon that i used. Walked out of there with 2 of the 80gb models for like $48 tax included. Nice deal just for external drive alone.
Trying to use the drive was an entirely miserable experience. If you left a PC mapped to
it, the PC would lock up. It worked fine when you first connected to it and as long as you kept it doing something. But if you let it sit for a few minutes and then tried to use it again, whammo - your PC would lock up. I thought at first it was some kind of power saver hosing everything up, but I couldn't find anything in the docs or on Ximeta's support site.
I've been using it as USB lately, but even that seems buggy and prone to disappear on reboot occasionally, much more than the Iomega USB drive my wife uses. The Iomega has worked pretty much flawlessly, especially compared to the Ximeta.

Scored 2 yesterday, then had it price adjusted today. All I have to say is schweet! One has a Maxtor drive in it, 114gb formatted, the other has a Samsung, 111gb formatted. The Samsung one was very nice and quiet, almost Seagate like, the Maxtor was slightly more audible but not as bad as the old ball bearing Western Digitals (devout Seagate Barracuda IV/Panaflo L1A user here). $54.34 for both after sales tax I'm a very very happy camper here. The CSR's were awesome, I didn't even know about their special flyer but the CSR applied the 10% off all clearance item coupon on the flyer on the original $139 price, then $100 back per drive. I asked if they had anymore in stock since I wanted a few more but pretty much the entire SF Bay Area was cleared out. Good thing I got these yesterday because when I did the price adjustment today, almost 1/2 the customers at the register were asking if the CSR's if the had any left.

I scored THREE
Personally I see some bait-and-switch going on. When I went to price match, I asked if they had more and they said no, but the assist mgr said another store had 10 in stock when he called in the morning. That store he was talking about is the very same store I was at yesterday and they told me there was ONE available, so i bought that and had to go to a different store who claimed to have four. I only bought two. Should have bought ALL FOUR

The OM I went to had a big sign on the door that said "all out of Netdisk 120GB drives due to unexpected demand". I seriously doubt they had any to begin with, given this particular store's reputation. I went in anyway, and they had a bunch of the 80GB ones. I took one to the service desk and asked if they would substitute, the manager crossed his arms and said very matter-of-factly "no, we will absolutely NOT do that. This was a clearance item, so NO SUBSTITUTES" What an asshat.

What are the first five digits of the serial number on your drives? Mine are all Samsung drives.
