Really this is rediculous. Its just fine if we want to go to a Casino, but from the comfort of our own homes, its illegal.....

For the record, i just like to play poker online.

I dont know about bodog but i know the poker sites dont work with credit or debit cards. The credit cards wont let you send money to the sites. Now really the only way to get money to the sites is through checks..or a system called echecks that works like a check but is just electronic. The new sources that the article says are new..and I dont want to trust my money to them since they are not publicly traded at all.

Really...everyone can still get their money in and out...its just now a bigger hassle. It wont stop the people who REALLY want toplay online..but it WILL stop the people who play casually

The real problem of our country is big corporations keeping our politicians in their back pocket.

This is the underlying issue.

Hurray for the GOP Senators who rammed that legislation down our throats! Your leadership will be missed in the new Congress!

just as a side note...The bastard who snuck the bill in the last day of congress..Bill Frist..was NOT re elected. ouch..

I was so pissed when that happened. He wrote this one article(cant find it) where he talked about how happy he was that it passed. he went on to say how he was glad that party pokers stock crashed and that he is saving the american family. You ******...yeah..you just restricted what we do with our hard earned money...WHILE taking joy in hurting another countries economy and hurting OTHER families that had their money invested in a PUBLICLY traded company.

for starters, it's easier to establish you are you, and you're old enough, at a casino.

Both of which are completely impossible to establish over the internet.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think the reason for this was the age issues. The same could be said for online porn or anything else that is age required on the internet. This has more to do with taxes than anything....

Ding Ding Ding! The only gambling the federal/state government is in favor of is the kind it can control and tax (the latter being the most important).

well the official "arguements" are that.

1. It is too easy for the impulsive gambler to lose his money online. and we as the governemtn need to take care fo everyone and not let them take care of themselves...so we cant allow that.

2. Kids can play. And of course, its not the families responsibility to watch their children, its the governments.

3. Its funding terrorists orginizations. Nevermind the fact that we have no proof, some are publicly traded companies, and that the UK wants to regulate it. Its Terrorism BE SCARED AND LISTEN TO ME>

Well, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist did not run for re-election because he's not a career politician. His presidential ambitions are now dead in the water because he's was Pres. Bush's Senate lap dog for years.

I don't expect the new Congress to reverse this law anytime soon.

Nor did he try to be re-elected. He wasn't running for re-election.

Uh, banks will decline that transaction. Internet gambling has always been illegal in the US. Late last year the implemented laws that allowed the government to go after banks or other companies that allowed people to transfer funds to gambling sites.
