I've tried NetFlix twice on the two week trial...not bad, their selection is good, but their customer service isn't the greatest. Still, for two weeks, it'd be worth it.

On a side note...if you get any kind of bonus from Best Buy with a Netflix trial, READ THE FINE PRINT...I bought Spiderman hoping to get a $10 giftcard with the trial...what I didn't read was that you had to KEEP the Netflix account for 3 months to qualify *lame*.

If you're into Anime or Foreign films, I HIGHLY recommend www.greencine.com....VERY good service (they have their own forums for customer feedback and discussion), and their selection in this category is the best I've ever seen.
MAJOR RANT:
They have no Hindi films. WEAK. Their Foreign Film category is weak! Even Netflix has the basic classic Hindi films!

Don't join if you want the newest releases. Your returns must arrive at the distribution center the day or the release, and the release must be at the top of you queue, or else it will be at "very long wait" for a long time. I was a member for about three months and got three movies every third day. I maintained my queue everyday and I only got ONE new release. I think that "Sweet Home Alabama" is still listed as "very long wait".

BB and many others have partnered with Netflix and have made this deal available since day one, this is not a hot deal.

You're exactly right....unfortunately. I try to time my returns so that they will (hopefully) arrive the day of the new release. Sometimes it doesn't work and my odds of seeing the movie in the next couple of weeks are slim. I remember that I had 4 Feathers in my queue and it was a "long wait" for months.

Netflix is excellent if you like foreign, indie or obscure movies. Use search of Off-Topic for a bunch of earlier Netflix threads (search archived threads for even more).

Greencine.com is good for foreign, indie or obscure movies. Netflix has a terrbile selection.

I live in the Washington DC area and used to get 20 movies a month. Now that I drop them to my hard drive I watch a movie every single night = 28-30 a month!

I have seen every top release for the last 2 months and the only movie I have a wait on is the new Led Zeppelin DVD. This is from the Gaithersburg MD distro.

Oh and when 8 mile was released I received it on Tuesday the day it came out!

There's a shipping facility in Newark? That's odd. I live in Scotch Plains (suburb of Newark) and they have me sending all my titles to New Brunswick for some reason.

You are lucky. You are the exception to the rule. Most praise from Netflix users comes from their collection of older movies, not new flicks.

One thing that I would like to see from Netflix was an indication of which DC had the movie in stock. I hated when my queue got screwed up because I picked a movie that wasn't available from my local DC, adding days to the arrival time. This is not a major bummer, just a suggestion.

Maybe it is just the DC distro center but my parents and friends never have trouble either. I get some older flix like I said above I average about 28-30 movies a month and there is just not that many new titles. But just about every new movie that comes out I rent and with no wait.

If u leave on east coast, netflix service isn't any good. you have to return all disks to Sanjose, CA and it takes about 5 days. I got tired of it and switched to Waltmart.com

I just cancelled - 2/3 days each way for shipping = 1 set per week max. Wasn't worth it in my case.

I've been with Netflix for a few months and rent about 20 per month. I've noticed a distinct slowdown in turnover time as time goes by. Great Selection though, beats Blockbuster all to hell

I would concur on this, I was on Netflix for 6 months and noticed that the longer your using thier service, it gets to be longer and longer time it gets for them to recieve and send the movies. It used to be a fast turn around when I started the service (about 4-5 movies a week) but after the 3rd month, it suddenly slowed down as if theyre trying to control the number of movies you get.

i'd have to agree with most of the older netflix members.. i just cancelled with them after being with them for 6 months. most of the movies i wanted were on very long to long wait, even new release.. guess they were holding all the copies for new members... oh well.
