Can't approach JJ as a traditional "Superhero" show in the same sense as Avengers or X-Men. It's just not the direction they wanted to go. She's not a traditional superhero

This is much more of a Noir style direction that appeals to a much different audience. It's a slower burn and emphasizes an emotional threat over a physical one. That certainly is something more interesting to women. Doesn't help that a majority of the main characters outside of the bartender are women either

I dig it though. I found Avengers 2 a bore and just sort of burned out on the traditional Marvel formula. This is a nice change of pace and a bit more of a cerebral experience.

Avengers 2 was pretty bad. Much like the first one, I left the theater and was a bit numb and remembered nothing by the time I hit the parking lot.

I get really annoyed when shows use moronic plot devices to move the story from A to B.

The part where she gets attacked by the 3 support group dipshits and gets hit in the head by her crazy neighbor and knocked out for several hours, so the writers could have Killgrave escape.

Literally the next episode she gets hit by a semi and immediately gets up and walks away. So dumb.

Killgrave is an awesome villain though.

FWIW, I think the overall production and plotting is a bit better in JJ. The fighting choreography and the sequences in DD were done really well, though. Probably what impressed me most about the series. Say Michael Bay or hell, even Nolan, had shot those--it would have been a blurry mess of tight shots and too much senseless spinning. One sequence in particular seemed a direct homage to OldBoy, which is always welcome. (episode 3 or 4, I think)

But to me that was the best of DD, which doesn't really make the series better. Mostly a personal thing, I guess, as fight scenes really don't do anything for me, anyway, whether or not they are well done. But it is DD and that is necessary for any DD content so it's arguably the most important aspect to get that show right. I thought everything else just seemed, a bit "corny" or put-on. And other than Rosario Dawson and D'Onofrio, I didn't really care that much for any of the other performances. The guy playing Murdoch was pretty good--definitely a bit different than what I recall of him in the comics, but I feel that role could have been cast better. I'll wait for the second season, I guess, which looks to ramp up a bit.

the middle episodes of DD dragged on waaaaaaay too long. Too much of the same brooding over and over; from Fisk to Murdoch. It was like 3 or 4 of those episodes were the same and I never could bring myself to watch more than 1 at a time.
You didn't think the overall story with JJ and KG dragged on too much. I mean KG is awesome but is a short range threat. Long range he is exposed and open and vulnerable like anybody else. It could have been over so much sooner but I know that they did that to extend the story and to give some bite behind JJ and KG.

I thought the story telling was good but the action scenes just felt flat. Like they were winging it.

Can you image having that much power? My god I'd be rich right about now. But I can also see the lonely aspect of it too.

I watched the 1st episode last night. First, I expect a little action in a comic book show, and there wasn't much. Second, the wife accused me of watching a chick show. I'm not sure I'm allowed to like it now.

Ask her if chick shows have much violence (Gone Girl aside) or
people in the process of being dismembered or a lesbian ex-wife trying to murder her ex-spouse with a fair amount of blood evident in the scene. Maybe just get her to watch the rather suggestive lesbian parts as a prelude to bringing up the subject of swinging. giggity giggity goo!!!
...

Last I checked Kristen Ritter could be described as a chick, so yeah there'll be some "chick-flick" elements but there's also enough low-end street level gritty lower powered super-heroics to entertain people.

The Star Trek series are all still there. For Stargate you do have to go to Amazon Prime Video to get them.

Well I'm 2 episodes in and it's not that great so far. And of course we have the obligatory gay agenda rolling in this one as well... 4 gays and 2 interracial relationships thrown in there for good measure.

I suppose episode 3 will have these guys flying in

It was pretty good and I'm looking forward to Luke Cage's series. Three things that kinda stick out:

1. Why did it take so long for someone to think of using headphones? First thing I thought of was why doesn't she use ear plugs and just kick his ass.
2. They missed an opportunity to have Matt Murdoch represent her at the end. It would have made more sense that Night Nurse would have set that up than having JJ turn to Hogarth.
3. The twin sister almost ruined the series.

be careful--one mroe episode and viewers are required to cast their allegience to the "gay agenda."

They didn't have enough story for 13 episodes so they had to use filler. This should have been a 10 ep series at the most.

Gave the first two episodes a try over the last couple of days. At first I thought maybe it was a Heroes reboot, given the super-strong hot chick, unbreakable man, puppetmaster, and hints of "others like us."

But then they started banging and I realized it was a new show.

I don't know... the heroine is easy-enough on the eyes, and the show is pretty well done. Might be worth a few more episodes but so far the whole thing feels very much like a mishmash of shows that have done the same things earlier and better.

I will admit that as much as I dig the show (and my wife really enjoys it), it's got a lot of "Heroes" Save the Cheerleader, Save the World vibe to it with the Hope story line.

Me personally...at some point you think utility and skip the whole trying to kidnap Kilgrave by taking him alive and just go for the killshot and end everyone's torment. If Hope managed to get killed in prison or killed herself it would make things a lot easier.

I'll be honest I was half watching the series while surfing on my Nexus 6P. That's how boring the fight choreography was.
