I haven't bothered with any of these series until relatively recently. Not interested in Iron Fist, or Jessica Jones. Haven't checked out Luke Cage but so far I am pretty impressed with Dare Devil. Which is a big surprise for me, as I had nothing but scorn for the movie with Ben Affleck.

I liked the actress they used for Electra too, and Vin Donofrio? Yes please.

I always thought D'Onofrio seemed kind of weird in the role. I mean... you see him in other movies like Jurassic World, and it makes you realize just how abnormal he presents himself to look menacing in Daredevil. Just watch him walk around in that scene where he gets shanked in prison in season three... it just looks so awkward and unnatural... like he's sucking up his gut, pushing out his chest and strutting a bit. It's just... WEIRD and stands out. I don't mind the attitude that he presents though.

Finished DD3. Spoiler warning!

What I liked:

1. I think it had the best writing out of all 3 seasons.

2. That part where Karen confronts Kingpin in his apartment was daaaaaang tense!

3. Figured out where his mom was from - The Man Who Knew Too Little! Great movie with Bill Murray.

4. That part with frozen Julie in the van at the end when he drives to the hotel lolololol yeah Dex is nuts

5. Poor Nadeem. I was mad at his wife for going to the FBI but then she wrote the note for Foggy, noice

6. That prison fight scene, c'mon...dang!

7. The spoon to Haggerty's head when Dex runs out of bullets, lol. doink.

8. I don't really feel like they gave enough of an argument to give the law any real favor. Foggy keeps arguing this is how we do things, the law always wins, but everything keeps going wrong & eventually Nadeem gets killed. So no, it didn't work. I felt like they could have made more of a case for why the law was so important, because everytime Foggy tries to convince Matt, I was like, that is such a dumb argument.

If I had to gripe:

1. They gave Karen like a whole episode for backstory. I felt like that would have been better cut up & interspersed with her conversation with Kingpin, to understand where she was coming from. And Foggy really didn't get much backstory, I felt like they should have thrown something in for him as well.

2. The ending should have ended on a cliff hanger. Like, maybe Dex can't get to Kingpin because of Matt, so he shifts gears & kills Vanessa instead, which sends Kingpin into a mad rage, and THAT'S where it ends - and then you'd be like, oh snap, it's gonna go down next season! Or have Dex or even Vanessa kill Kingpin, so Vanessa becomes the new criminal overlord (because she did say her hands weren't clean). I really liked the first season's ending, where Matt shows up to Karen, pulls his mask out of the bag, and is like "I am the Daredevil". END CREDITS. THAT is how you end a season!

3. The entire show could have been easily resolved if they had just called in the Punisher, lol.

4. Likewise, I dunno why Nadeem didn't just shoot Kingpin when he first went back to his apartment. Too much of a good guy, but he had somebody on everybody, so, you know...solve the problem.

5. I would have written the roof-hanging scene with the English guy Felix. So first, I wouldn't have had Matt call Dex to tell him about Julie. Then have the rooftop scene with Felix. THEN, Dex shows up to rescue Felix, and Felix knows Kingpin is gonna kill him, so he tells Dex about what Kingpin did to Julie, THEN Dex goes into a mad rage & races to the hotel. Because it made ZERO SENSE that Matt told Dex about Julie & then fought him off at the hotel, other than simply to get him to the hotel just so he had all of the bad guys in one place, I guess, which was just really lame writing.

Because then Matt would be headed to kill Kingpin, and Dex would be headed to kill Kingpin, but Matt wants the kill, so he stops Dex, and THEN goes to kill Kingpin, and then shows him mercy. That would have been way more intense & the writing would have made sense.

6. Needed more fight scenes. Love their choreography.

Hope they do DD Season 4, whether it's on Netflix or on Disney!

That sucks. Daredevil was easily the best of the bunch. I'm not all the way through season 3 yet but it's been better than season 2.

Damn that sucks. Guess it's the last season of DD that I will see. Hopefully Disney being Disney doesn't want Punisher for their streaming service; but then again they could always just outright cancel it entirely, which seems most likely.

Not sure why anyone surprised by this. Anything Disney on Netflix should be watched now if you want to see it, expect it all to be gone in the near future.

2 year moratorium on netflix marvel characters from date of cancellation
https://io9.gizmodo.com/netflixs-marvel-shows-cant-come-back-for-at-least-two-y-1831056170

its an odd bit of the puzzle, it could go either way as far as the future of the defenders heroes.

if marvel intends on bringing the series to D+ then doing the cancellations so abruptly makes sense, like ripping a bandaid off quickly. 2 years isnt a huge deal. they can do a ton of pre-production in the hiatus and actually pollish the scripts.

but as hollywood operates, 2 years means any of the actors could get a new gig and be unavailable thus ending the netflix iterations of the series. rebooting the characters at D+ however would be a benefit and a chance to get rid of some the bad habits that the production team developed.
the DD climax is a repeated variant of the luke cage s2 climax: 3way showdown of hero and 2 villains trying to kill each other.

it would be interesting to see how much of the cancellation drama was just to get the properties away from marvel tv and ike perlmutter.

you couldn't have the gritty versions of the characters on disney. it'll be all kid friendly.

Only "surprise" would be that they did this with unaired episodes remaining.

I for one am looking forward to the bitching when these streaming wars cause prices to be close to same as if you had cable.

per the deadline link, Bernthal is already signed for the sopranos prequel series so chances of jumping the punisher production over to D+ seems unlikely.

stick a fork in the netflix series, they're done.
https://io9.gizmodo.com/when-marvel-starts-selling-off-props-its-time-to-reall-1833466524
guess they can start over and do the characters in the canon MCU film style like the loki and scarlet witch mini series on d+.

That's too bad. Big fan of Netflix's Daredevil. Punisher was also pretty fun. I'm happy with the way they both ended, however. I do think they had several years left of great writing, however. Oh well.
