Netflix on PS3

Anyone do it? In concept it's a sweet deal, streaming movies to my TV. But I seem to have all kinds of trouble with it. Sometimes audio doesn't sync, video has glitches, and like right now I can't even connect to netflix servers. Works just fine from computer. Anyone else have issues or can even connect right now?

I've ran it on all the systems. 360 is the best, but you have to have Xbox live. The PS3 and Wii are the exact same system. On those two I sometimes have the audio desync, but it is very rare. My biggest complaint is the PS3 controls. If you are in a menu you cannot hit O, which is the normal cancel button, or it will return you to the PS3 main menu.

I don't know about PS3, but rarely I do get those issues on my Blu-ray player, and it's usually remedied by restarting the video.

Been running it for quite some time on PS3 now, and they have finally added search option! Sweet!

On a related topic... I wish netflix had an "instant watch only" subscription for half price or something. I don't really have an interest in getting mailed movies but would like to give the 360 streaming a go. Not really worth it for $10 though.

The CSI tv series gave me the most trouble. Sometimes the audio was missing entirely and sometimes the audio was from a different episode. The same episode worked perfectly on the computer and no matter what always failed on the PS3. The biggest issue I have with netflix is the frustration in trying to contact them. I cringe everytime I see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the comedy section. It isn't a comedy, but there's no way to report it.

Netflix doesn;t offer me anything that I can't get through other sources online. We hardly use netflix now, but my wife likes it for the Korean dramas...cheaper than buying kdramas in store. I've tried just now, and I notice that if I'm hogging bandwidth on other stuff, the Netflix stream suffers.

I used to run an HTPC but now with hulu (needs to be upgraded, still in beta) and netflix on the ps3 I have more TV than I care to consume... Also, if nothing else, i can stream a video from another computer.

I think they have a 1 month free trial now (usually $8.99/mo)..give it a shot and see what you think. I am using streaming all the time...

eh, i watched serenity on the ps3 over wireless yesterday to a 40" lcd tv...id say it was dvd quality, easily. i dont think thats bad for streaming a movie over a wireless connection. it wasnt as good as blu-ray quality.

Slightly off topic, does PS3 Netflix still require a disc? I haven't even turned on my PS3 in a few months, so I wasn't sure if they added it to a firmware update yet.

Also, does anyone know if the disc is something that can be copied?

Yes, but it will be discless in the fall.

Still requires a disc. 720p streaming content plays flawlessly for me on my PS3, works great.

If the streaming has stuff that you like its easily worth more than $10 a month. We cancelled our $40 a month cable and do everything through netflix and hulu now. We can still watch everything we want and save a bunch of money every month.

If you can't find anything streaming that you like you're extremely picky. They don't have everything but their selection is getting pretty good.

Bottom of the site "Contact us" > "Call Customer service" 800 # pops up. It even gives you a code to put in so you can identify yourself.
