I think anyone who goes into a rage over this is probably too uptight to begin with.

As for me: I think I need to start trimming junk from my monthly budget sooner or later. I hope it doesnt start with Netflix. But then again I already have Amazon Prime they got lots of good stuff too.

As a stock holder since early 2015 and noting the resulting market appreciation of this move I'm ok with this

RRRRRRRRRRRReally time to cancel.
Everything I want to watch they don't have anyways so its a waste of money.
Nothing beats a good newserver on a 10Gbps unmetered handout.

Bully for you. You don't want to pay for the content you consume. If you don't want to pay for it, don't watch it.

compared to my cable bill of god-knows-how-much, this is nothing
My cable bill dropped by nearly $80 when I canceled the tv and went internet only. (I only had the tv part because a roommate paid me for it, but he recently moved). The prices on the tv just kept going up too. Every other month, increased tv tax, increase in sports delivery fee, high box rental fee (for a huge POS device)...

Most of the content is shit anyways.
And no, I'm not paying for a disc with unskippable intros, ads (WTF!), menus and other crap.
When I open a MKV the movie just plays as intended.
When they can get this through their greedy ass mindset I will buy discs.
I own lots of titles on BD and DVD going back to the 90s. LD and VHS/Beta before that. Even capacitance electronic disc. I have a 30TB NAS full of rips and 80% of that is what I legally purchased beforehand. DVDFab was a godsend. I'm also replacing DVD rips with H265 bd rips with much better quality and roughly half the file size of the old DVD rips. I keep a threadripper build busy with handbrake these days.

Pretty amazing today that I can put a ton of movies on a 400GB microSD, slap that in my Note8 and not even need a net connection!

Sorry, but the highlighted shows that your post is only 80% acceptable here.

Cancelled a few months back. I still have prime.

i have prime but never use it since amazon don't let me download videos (last i checked) and no 4k available on PC but i can't choose not to have the video service and keep the shipping part active. wonder how many prime video "subscribers" there actually are when you discount those who only want prime for shipping and not video

Not that this really helps you but...
About Offline Viewing Periods for Video Downloads

Some content owners place restrictions on the time period you can access downloaded video titles without an active Internet connection.

The time period you have to view a downloaded video while your compatible mobile device is offline varies by title.

Tip: You can download Amazon Video titles to Fire tablets, Fire phone, iOS devices, and Android phones and tablets.

If you try watching a downloaded video and the viewing period is over or almost over, a notification typically shows on-screen to let you know. If this happens, you're prompted to connect your device to a Wi-Fi or wireless network so you can continue to access the downloaded video.

And you aren't getting 4K any time soon.

With shows like Narcos, Stranger Things, and The Punisher coming very shortly, no chance I would cancel it. I don't use Netflix much at all other than when a show comes out like the ones above, that's when I'm glad I have it. I will go like 2-3 months without touching it sometimes though.

Netflix has a lot of great original content for sure. But binge watching almost kills the experience lol. If you happen to catch a show shortly after it's released, it might only take you a week or two to watch all the episodes. Then you have to wait a year for the next season. In some ways it's great but in other ways it kinda sucks. At least with TV you usually only have to wait a few months for the next season.

Oh yeah, you are definitely Netflix's kind of customer. For you, they should raise the price 20-30% instead of 10%.

There are pros and cons to both methods. HBO's weekly rollout allows for much better online discussion with everyone watching at the same pace. I do think this contributes to the popularity of good shows like Game of Thrones. On the other hand, it sucks having to wait a week, so I love when a new season of say Narcos comes out that I have access to the entire season right away. I want to binge watch good shows, and Netflix lets me do just that.

Yeah exactly.

We were late to the Breaking Bad party, we started watching on NF when season 4 was starting. So we were able to watch regularly, not necessarily binging, and were caught up with the first three seasons right as season 4 was halfway through. Then we watched season 4 on DVR and watched season 5 live.

I am looking forward to the new season of Grand Tour on Amazon though

T-Mobile is paying my Netflix bill for me. Rage not found.

Haha, this.

Plus so much quality original content (Defenders, Stranger Things etc). Older shows that I missed that I'm currently binging. Hundreds of documentaries. There's enough content that I could happily cancel my TV, if I wouldn't miss out on sports. Gotta have my hockey, NFL, college football etc.

11 is a bargain when you look at other streaming services in a similar price range with nowhere close to as much content.

why i don't watch it. what's the point of having 4k on a phone or tablet ffs? just justifies piracy IMO as if you're a prime customer you are literally paying for the content anyway.

moving to ebay purchases for some things so looking to get rid of prime soon (ebay deliver to local stores and amazon logistics are abysmal )

anyway ...... still not paying extra for 1080p netflix over low resolution. how they can stream low quality and charge that much for it is crazy

Yea I just cancelled my dvd plan this morning. I used the dvd service maybe once every 2 mos or so but I decided when I read the price was going up it wasn't worth having the dvd plan also. I'm not bitching about the price increase though. In our house, we use netflix a ton so it's worth it.

Wow that is a waste of money. My local library also has the latest for free and even then it's a hassle dealing with DVDs and bringing them back and forth.
