They are a national chain, as I recall, about 6 or 8 stores. Stores are similiar to CompUSA. It is easy to spend an hour or two just browsing around. They send out sale papers about every month or two to previous customers.

resellerratings doesn't do justice.

microcenter is large B&M store, and has presence in several state, they have much better selection than Cr@pusa. U can order online and do local up.

It's more like a B&M store than online store, u can see the resellerratings that most dissatisfied customer bought stuff online.

btw, clarification : microWAREHOUSE is bought by CDW recently, NOT microcenter. duh..

 

How good is this router? It has good ratings on amazon (4 out of 5 stars) and cnet (73% positive), but a loooooooooot of reviews said the router drops the connection every few hours or days and has to be reset. And what does "B&M" mean on these forums?

I've had the RP614v1 lockup on high speed connections (1.5/768 static dsl here). The the RP614v2, which Mircocenter most likely has should be good provided you're not on a DSL PPPoE connection. Supposedly there is a PPPoE MTU issue with the v2 routers. The v2 has a ARM9 150MHz CPU and supports SPI if I recall correctly (v1 ARM6/50MHz I think).

B&M = Brick and Mortar... Basically a physical store you can walk into.

A friend bought this router at the B&M store about a week ago and it is the Version 2 model. The label on the bottom of the router reads as RP614v2. He has it running with 3 computers on a cable system and has no problems. I also read the negative reviews, but I believe that most of them refer to the Version 1 model.

 

sh!t...the $20 mail-in-rebate expires 10/27 (today), but the sale price expired yesterday, but they also have a new $10 mail-in-rebate...now it is 59.99 - 20MIR - 10MIR = 29.99...is it still worth it?
